Malibu Monday!

Good Morning Everyone! I'm making Frankieanne's
    Copycat Sizzler Malibu Chicken
    for my dinner this evening.
Jim and I never made it as far south as Malibu when we were in California. Googling it this morning I learned that Malibu was originally settled by the Chumash, Native Americans whose territory extended loosely from the San Joaquin Valley to San Luis Obispo to Malibu, as well as several islands off the southern coast of California. They named it "Humaliwo" or "the surf sounds loudly". The city's name derives from this, as the "Hu" syllable is not stressed. This region experiences warm (but not hot) and dry summers, with no average monthly temperatures above 71.6 °F. So I think there's a few of you in GR that would totally groove on those temperatures! :) Mind you, you'd have to deal with major coastal storms and the occasional earthquake. :)
Frankieanne's recipe is a copycat of one made in a Sizzler restaurant which I've never heard of. Again, I googled it and their headquarters is in Mission Viejo,California. Founded in 1958 it has more than 270 locations, mostly in the Western U.S. Not too long ago they launched their first Food Truck called "ZZ" as a way to expand sales and market test new dishes.
Well I'm pleased to report this morning that the sun is out, no rain is forecast for the day and, best of all......I did another load in the dishwasher last night and it worked perfectly. Phew. Relief.
Jim went to a Turkish Restaurant for dinner last night and had a Meat Combo with Basmati rice and salad. The combo consisted of lamb, grilled beef skewer, chicken and beef. And then he was teasing me that he was going to watch the new season of Downton Abbey as it was premiering there last night. I saw a mention online this morning that it was watched by 1.8 million households!
I think once I get up and at 'em this morning I'll do a jaunt into town. Need to grab some propane at Costco and I have to go to the Hardware store.
Wishing everyone a really great day!

Rick just left for Chico, I need to call our supplier and see if they have a delivery this week..we found out yesterday got another job..then I need to run some other errands here in a bit..I decided to go with him tomorrow for a smaller door install..they don't take as long:)

Dinner will be Olive Garden..stuffed chicken marsala! It's my birthday and as always, my parents like to take all of out for a BD dinner..I'm still 57, won't be 58 until 8:59am..I think that's the time I was born, might be 8:50 am..I'll know when Mom calls..she always calls my sister and I the exact time we were born to wish us a happy bd:) Anyhoo, I'm hanging on to 57 until the very last second..LOL

Hope everyone has a great MONDAY!!! Today Fall begins!

LOL Janet:) My cousin who I mentioned we hooked up again after many years, lives in Mission Viejo,California. I will have to ask her if she has been to the Sizzler restaurant?
I am going to bet she has. No sun here yet but, I will totally appreciate a day without rain. Glad to hear your dishwasher is back on track again:) Very cool about the new season of Downtown Abbey being on in UK. We will be watching it before you know it too! Tony is still going strong! WOW! I did not know that! Enjoy your Copycat Sizzler Malibu Chicken and have a good jaunt around downtown Kanata:)

Marie, Pace yourself and try not to overdo it! It is good to be busy though:)

    Tina?

    Shona?

    Karen?

We ended out having pork chops last night and watched the Finale of "Amazing Race Canada". I was very pleased the two guys I liked won:) Tonight we are having chicken and it will be sort of like Malibu Chicken but I put the ham and cheese on the inside. I also have some running to do today. Pick up a parcel at the Post Office, banking and a few groceries. If I get a chance? I will make either a Marble Cake for Den or some blueberry muffins for him to take in his lunch. I am not much for dessert or sweets but,
    he is.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

Happy Birthday Marie!! And many more. I hope your dinner is yummy. And I call Olivia at 1:23 on her birthday too. It always makes me happy to remind her of my joy. LOL on the limo wine tasting. So busy, but glad you had the morning off.

Joce, nice supper. I would vote for Marble cake too. Den is a lucky fellow. It is very cloudy here. We have storm band coming in from the Gulf.

Janet, you were the one man band this morning. LOL Thanks for the Tony wake-up. Awesome at 88 as always. He was one of the most romantic dates Fred and I shared. I think we had Sizzler's here in Florida, but I can't remember if we ever went. I do know I like the Malibu chicken, copy cat or not.

Charlie is having fits today. His barking and his howling is supreme. I can't figure out what is bugging him. Molly is glued to my leg. She dislikes it intensely when he is like this.
Ms. Lola is napping. Skippy is chiming in.

I couldn't not move yesterday at all. I hurt so badly. Have a call in about the blood pressure meds and my wildly changing blood pressure. The dizziness has to be part and parcel of the wild swings. Otherwise, Fred will be taking me to the ER.

Dinner is spaghetti and meatballs out of the deep freeze. Salad with La Feria.

Hello at all that follow.....have a great day, my friends.

Tina, I hope they get back to you soon and a doctor can see you today. If not yes go to the ER. Maybe Charlie is sensing the storm and trying to tell you something? I hope you have all your emergency supplies in case the storm hits near you? YUM! I am going to have to make some spaghetti and meatballs soon as well. They come in so handy!

Good afternoon! Janet, Copycat Sizzler Malibu Chicken sounds like a good choice for dinner tonight, yum! I had to look up Sizzler just to see if there were any in TX and there is not :( Their menu looks great though, kind of like our TX Roadhouse. Yay to your dishwasher working!

Happy Birthday Marie! I hope you have the best time at Olive Garden tonight :) Have a bowl of Chicken and Gnocchi soup for me, will ya? :) Thanks for letting us know it's officially Fall, yay!! It's pumpkin time :)

Hi Joce. I would bet your cousin has been to Sizzler, the map shows that California has a ton of them there, looks like there's one on every street corner lol! Good luck running errands today, your dinner sounds delicious as well :)

You had me worried when you didn't pop in yesterday Tina! Hope you can get to the doctors ASAP. You really need to find out what's going on with your BP. Good luck to you, keep us updated!

Caiden had an early morning check up today. He also got 4 shots. They are the kind that sting, my poor baby :( I'm just glad it's over with, I always DREAD appointments involving shots. Afterward, I bought him a big bag of M&M's (his favorite treat) from the store :) Since we have dance classes tonight from 5-7:15 I came home and threw together a beef stew for the slow cooker and we will be eating a late dinner. Have a dish washer to unload now, hope everyone is having a great day!!

It's raining heavily. I had my BP checked at the doctor's, thinking it was my monitor. It was quite low. She wants me to stop taking the extra strong bp med and see if it will regulate. It is always something. Funny how the pain gets so much worse when it is high and I get so dizzy when it is low. She also added a baby aspirin to my daily doses.

Poor Caiden on the shots. Ouch, but M&M's are a good remedy. Beef stew sounds delicious. Let me know if you try the paleo corndogs! Have a good time at dance class.

Loving all the pumpkins, I know Janet couldn't resist getting hers. Unfortunately, a pumpkin would rot in this heat. There is a pumpkin carving contest at one of the downtown restaurants next month with a cash prize. How fun is that?

Charlie has been howling off and on all day. Not his normal bark, a lonesome howl. Molly crawled into my arms and let me hold her tight because of his noisiness. Skippy is just fading away. She is getting thinner by the day, not quieter mind you, just thinner. She is just a fluff of hair with no substance. She is going on 12 or 13. (continual debate around here).
Lola wants to nap with Fred, she is so cute.

Hi Tina! Nice that you call Liv at her exact birthday time too! That is so nice that you and Fred got to see Tony Bennett. He's really one of the last kind of old-fashioned 'stars' I think. They just don't make 'em like that anymore. I think he's still super handsome and his voice just makes me melt. :) I wonder if it's just the upcoming storm that Charlie is sensing? So glad you checked in today. I always worry. Feel better. Spag and meatballs sounds excellent.
MMmmmm....Chicken and Gnocchi soup sounds pretty yummy Michelle. Have one of those for me too Marie! :) Congrats to Caiden for getting through his appointment. He deserves a giant bag of M&M's for sure! Yum on beef stew.
I got all my errands run. Costco, Hardware store, popped in to see my girlfriend quickly, drug store, Post office and Sobey's. Got a Corned beef sandwich from the deli section at the grocery store. I could only eat a bit more than half of the bun and I removed half of the meat beforehand as there enough by far to make two big sandwiches, never mind trying to get your mouth and stomach around one!

Thanks Tina & Michelle for the happy BD wishes:)

    Tina, Feel better dear!

Michelle, I'll have a bowl of Chicken & Gnocchi soup for sure for you:) Love it:)

We're thinking about an early dinner..Rick just called and he's on his way home:)
My Mom was a few minutes late calling, which I knew she would be, they had to take one of their kittys to the vet to have stitches removed from his eye..he had the eye removed, it was cancerous. The Vet believes they got it all so that's good news..he's the cat who rides with Dad in his golf cart..such a good boy:)

Anyway, just finished all of the invoices for this weeks jobs..time to take a few minutes to count my blessings and celebrate being 58:) Whoo Hoo!

Tina, I wonder if there is some high pitched music being played somewhere near you, causing Charlie to howl that way? Maybe someone's house alarm or smoke alarm when off and no one is at home? He still might be sensing that storm as well? No doubt you will figure it out some day? Maybe as the doctor said you have been overly medicated with BP medications? Give it a few days to get your body sorted out.

Glad you did all your running around, Janet and picked up another pumpkin as well:)

Good news on your parent's Kitty, Marie. Glad to hear they think they got it all. Aww I bet it is cute to see him driving around in your Dad's golf cart:) Time to Celebrate!
    Cheers!

Hope your parent's cat does fine Marie. Poor thing. The things the Vets can do these days though eh? I'd love to see him ride around in the golf cart. That'd be hilarious. You go relax, it's not too early for a cocktail.....and enjoy your birthday girl status. :)
Made my Gazpacho and now am going to prep the Malibu chicken. The day flew by.

I saw a green gazpacho on the Chew today. I have to try it.
My goodness, I agree, the day has flown by. I don't know if all the rain caused all the hullabaloo from Charlie but he was so playing his part in the dog network from 101 Dalmations. He was transmitting some message. Scotty came by with Olivia and it was funny to watch them communicate. Charlie imitates Scotty or Scotty channels Charlie, I don't know which, but the howling continued. Liv was in a foul mood and I'm glad she left for the evening. No matter what I said, she snapped my head off. I'm really in the dog house with her.

The spaghetti sauce is bubbling, the meatballs are heating. The water is on for the noodles. Fred said, "No" to garlic bread. Salad is tossed. He said, "No" to salad. Okay, more for me. I pulled a carrot cake from the deep freeze. Publix had them buy one get one a few weeks ago. We really like carrot cake and they make a good version, so I stocked up. I think Fred is eschewing salad to save space for cake. I don't blame him. He is a dessert fellow.

Marie, enjoy that nice supper at the Olive Garden. I love their salad. Reminds me that I have to get some pepperoncini for the salad toss ins.

There are some very dark clouds to the SE and I'm sure I'll be hugging few dogs either before or after dinner. They are positively black and heavy with rain. Oh dear.

Hi all. Just got home a couple of hours ago.

We were gone this weekend to a family get together. Lots of fun. We went out to eat with the group Friday night - at the Texas Roadhouse! Their 6 oz. sirloin looked more than 6 oz. It was super good. Then went to the church my Dad attended on Sunday. We have become friends with the pastor. It was nice to have time to chat!

When we picked Homer up from the kennel they said "He was wonderful!" The she grinned and said that he barked. I listened and heard four barks, pause, five barks etc. I told her he never barks at home, ever. She laughed - they really do like him. As we left another of the girls who work there came up and talked to him and patted him. He is a favorite client, even if he did bark. We decided he was bored and lonely and could not see other dogs so he woofed for them to notice him. So funny.

A.C. escaped a few minutes ago - I strolled up and patted him and he was easy to scoop up and take inside. He is not too smart. Brat!

I must move some stuff off the couch so the Schwann man can come in and sit down. We are both tired and it will be an early bedtime. I have some pix to download and will have to upload them. See you later.
