Monday's Molds.....

  • chuckieb 9 years ago
Good Morning Everyone! Despite the fact that when I woke up more snowflakes were falling, I have my eyes set on this coming Easter weekend with visions of lambs jumping in green fields, pastel coloured Easter eggs set out for little girls and boys to find in a hunt and chocolate.....always chocolate. :)
As I mentioned yesterday, I was quite taken with some beautifully intricate chocolate Easter molds that I saw at the Antique store yesterday. I couldn't see any exactly like it in google images but I found a couple of cute pictures all the same. I actually own a mold exactly like the one in the first picture but have never used it. I do set it out in my kitchen around Easter. I'm not even sure where I picked it up to be honest and I may have even purchased it from a store as I have the box and everything. It wasn't very expensive. A few dollars at best.
I have absolutely no clue what to make for dinner this evening. Jim is heading down for a date with the recumbent bike but I am still nursing my silly back although it is better than last week.
How cool you went to Europe when you were 14 Tina! I can't even fathom how excited I'd have been at such a chance. What lovely memories you must have and that certainly makes your demitasse collection all that much more precious! Uh-oh on Lola and the pinecones.
Asking a local for a restaurant recommendation is a very wise thing to do for sure! I love lavender essential oil Karen. Love anything lavender for that matter. :) I am so envious that you saw a wild boar. I know they can cause damage and that they can be dangerous but I would LOVE to see one one day. You too are so lucky to have seen such wonderful Crystal outlets, etc. when you were in Germany.
Your deli chicken and salad last night sounded great Marie and kind of tempting for me today although I don't feel like driving in to get a chicken. :) If Bribie and Tippie don't care for each other and you did go with the cat resort, I guess that'd mean that you'd have to get two 'rooms'?
    Wishing everyone a good Monday!

    Good morning.

We are concerned about the wild boar problem. They are destructive and can ruin a hay crop overnight. Neighbors have starting trapping and killing them but they have up to three litters per year, of 14 or more piglets. Meat is good, though, as long as you are certain that it cooked long and slow, to take care of any parasites.

I have to use up a lot of the frozen stuff, as a guy in the church knows where to find a half beef, Amish raised black angus. But right now only a toothpick could added to the freezer!

We loved our time in Germany, and haunted the ceramic and crystal outlets. I don't know how it is now, but in the town of Rothenberg we shopped at Katie Wolferts and bought all sorts of cool stuff. I found a tea cart that I liked, but didn't have the cash with me to get it. The clerk just asked if I had my checkbook, and took a personal check for it. I think she knew how to deal with American soldiers who defaulted, also, but at time I was impressed that she took a check for that amount. This was back in the early eighties, and things are quite different now, I am sure!

Wayne's buddy Is here and I need to go clean the sun room a bit, it is cluttered but at least the floor needs sweeping and some dusting. A lady is stopping by to drop off something for the Fire Dept., and I know she stay for coffee and want to at least see the sun room and kitchen, so a quick once over is needed.🙀😮

I will have to stop in that antique shop in Franktown one day to see those molds and lovely old sleds, Janet. Sorry to hear your back is still bothering you:( A sore back does take a bit of time to heal unfortunately. Glad you enjoyed your author speaking yesterday. I am sure you will come up with a great idea for dinner.

Karen, I would be quite concerned about the wild boar problem too! LOL Maybe you should buy another freezer to keep the beef in as you might be getting more wild boar:) I love tea carts and I bet it was awesome seeing ceramic and crystal outlets in Germany. Enjoy your company and showing off your lovely sun room.

I am leaning towards chicken something for dinner. I should e-mail or call Den and see what he wants for dinner? Working on my family tree again today. Not much happening here again today.

    Wishing everyone a wonderful day!

Bill paying day and paperwork awaits. I have to call in refills etc. Nothing fun about it. I'm going to fix a bagel thin and have a second cup of coffee. More laundry taunts me.

Janet, yes, Tippi & Bribie would have to be separated at the resort:) Bribie and Lennon can room together no problem..Lennon is such a sweet boy, he never bites us, loves laying in out laps..can't say that about our 2 girls..they are sweet in their own way, which means only when they want to be..actually, they are both HOLY TERRORS..LOL
Oh man, sure hope your back gets better real soon, that's no fun:(

Karen, So you also have cats that don't always get along..it would be SO much easier if they did! Wow on the wild boars..I've heard they are kindof mean???

Joce, How cool on the family tree;) I have always wanted to do that as well..did you start with Ancestry.com?

Tina, I'm doing the same, paying EOM bills..taxes, etc..I hate this time of year:) Try not to do too much today...I could use another cuppa joe as well:) xoxox

Michelle, how's the sunburn today? Years & years ago, I used to use Noxzema on sunburns..it cools the burn..nowadays, I use aloe vera.

I did hear that Wild boars are similar to bunnies in the numerous babies department. :) I enjoy hearing about your experiences in Germany Karen. I'd really like to visit there one day.
    Have decided on
    Chicken Satays With Peanut Sauce
and Edamame for dinner this evening. LOL @ Karen buying another freezer Joce. Grin. Fun fun working on your family tree. Enjoy! I've taken a peek at a couple of the NYC links you sent me on Pinterest and I'm having fun with that. We hope to book our trip today and stay three nights the end of April I think.
Ugh on bill paying and paperwork and laundry Tina. I think you should think of at least one fun thing to make a point of doing today so you have something to look forward to.
And you doing bills and taxes as well Marie! Again, think of something fun to reward yourself with after! I used to use Noxzema too. Loved the smell and it sure did feel better after!

Good afternoon! Cool on the molds, Janet...now I want to look into getting one! I'm guessing you can make a cake in it? Or is it just to make hard chocolate only? I almost bought a lavender plant to put in my garden, but then changed my mind last second. Last time I had one I never used it! Yum on chicken satay!

Cool on the beef Karen, hope you can make some room for it! Or you could always buy another freezer? :P

Good luck on your family tree researching today Joce!

Laundry it taunting me too Tina.

Hi Marie! Guess the enchiladas didn't get made last night? We have an aloe plant that we use when we get sunburns...it sure is stinky stuff though, lol!

Yesterday did end up turning into a small block party. We all searched our fridges for what we could put on the grill. Ended up skewering tons of zukes, yellow squash, bell peppers and mushrooms. Also had several types of sausages. We weren't out too late maybe 9ish?

Caiden and I have just been hanging out today being lazy. I'm about to do a mountain of laundry and then some school stuff with Caiden. Bri has dance class tonight and we will probably just have leftovers when we get home. Michael has picket duty tonight. He hates it, it's long and it's late, and he has to work in the morning with his Dad. Okay off to do the dreaded chores. Hope everyone is having a great day!

Hi again. It is,after lunch and the guys are now tending the rubbish pile fire from this morning. Sun room is still a mess but I cleared a section so we can all sit down for coffee and rhubarb crisp. The rest of the room is stacked with books in three piles - keep, pitch, and give away. A fourth is those books that we have not decided yet. Most are cookbooks.

Your block party sounds like fun, Michelle.

Marie, A.C. is the worse cat at not getting along. He is a brat. Everyone adores the holy terror! He has. Wayne wrapped around his little paw! He had Mary so upset she would not use the litter box until we separated them. He would go outside and pounce the elderly kitties! He bites HARD! Mel is laid back, generally uses the scratching post instead of the furniture, snoozes on my lap, and when he sneaks in with Mary, causes not the slightet disturbance! She glances at him, may hiss once, but then goes to sleep on the bed. When he is with A.C. Mel rough-houses enough to satisfy him, then curls up somewhere of a nap. Mel is the perfect cat. If we ever board them, A.C. will be by himself, Mary by herself, and by default Mel will end up alone although he might survive either of the others.

Janet, if things have not totally changed in the last thirty or so years, the best places we found for outlets were Glas Von Marion in Weiden, And the various Kaiser outlets -- they made gorgeous Eagles, wing spans of over three feet total. We brought one back but it was broken on the trip. We would take off from the tourist spots and hit the small towns, eat cold cuts from a Metzgerei and brotchen from a Bakerei, visit the factory outlets and then eat at a Gasthaus on the way home. Some of them specialized in game - everything from bear to elk to moose to wild boar! One tome we sat at a table along the wall and something underneath touched my feet - it was a huge, very sociable dog who likely lived there and napped under the table.

I am sure the libraries or travel places can point you to the main tourist attractions. It was fascinating place to live, we had the best situation, away from the American stairwells but not under the German landlords, in leased housing.

Hi, Joce. Chicken anything does sound good. I don't know for sure what we are having but am pushing salads if I don't get too much rebellion from Wayne. I fixed a low card supper, eggs and asparagus and ham fried together, and he was unimpressed with the veggie addition!

Tina, not the dreaded bill paying day! Boo! I could use a second cup of coffee! The mid afternoon blahs are here.....too much sugar consumption in the rhubarb crisp. Or crumble. Anyhow, I messed up the topping but it turned pretty darn good anyhow. Maybe next time less sugar and some stevia.

I don't know for sure Michelle but I'm guessing 'no' on baking a cake in the chocolate mold. I have one lavender plant outside and would love more but it seems to struggle. (I do not have a green thumb). Even making a little bouquet out of it and tying it with a ribbon to your closet door is fun, or harvesting the lavender and using it to scent your pillow? And it's a perennial too so that's always nice. I even just like running my hand through it out in the herb garden for a nice scent on my hands. Good Luck with the laundry, Caiden's school stuff and Bri's dance class. Ugh on picket duty. Still no sign of them signing on the dotted line to go back to work eh? :(

Hello everyone. I had jury duty today. I got picked to be a juror. They said it will last a week.
The family had chicken enchiladas and rice pilaf for dinner. I had stuffed portobello mushrooms. They were so good. The butcher shop down the street usually has a dew premade that you just pop in the oven for twenty minutes. I went in today and was looking around and I didn't see any. The kid working there said can I help you find something, and I told him that was what I was looking for and he made them up right then and there. Such good service, a little pricy but their food is always top quality. No one else likes mushrooms so I ate the two huge ones myself. They had spinach, a few different kinds of cheese and bacon in them.

Laurie, a good butcher is rare to find, and worth the extra cost. Jury duty was a pain but when they called me it was for a drug case. Defender wanted no part of me. Prosecutor did! The defendant was accused of drug possession and tried to say the law enforcement officer was wrong in whatever he did. The next was a high profile case, from a few years back, which was to go to a new venue. Prospective viewers were told they would have an hour get two days worth (?) of clothing together and meet at the courthouse for a trip to another county. When asked if any one had objections, I said no objections but need two and a half hours, as I lived one hour away! They did not pick me!

Janet, it ws a good time for us. We wanted to go back but it did not happen! But we are happy here!
