Saturday`s Sweets....

Good Morning Everybody! Happy December 1st!!!!! 🎄Wow! That just happened pretty fast didn`t it? 😄😄😄

It`s a gray, dull morning out there at the moment. Supposed to be a mix of sun and clouds today with a high of 3C/37F so I guess we get the clouds now and maybe some sunshine later.

When Jim and I were in Almonte yesterday we passed by their local bakery `Baker Bob`s`. He had a very fun window display of Gingerbread cookies. Two photos below. There`s just something about Christmas and Gingerbread and cookies isn`t there? ❄

While surfing the net last night I saw that Bailey`s Irish Cream Chocolate Chips are a thing!!!! 🍪 Unfortunately they are available in a few locations in the States but not in Canada yet. Boo. :( How awesome would those be in Holiday baking!!!!

Just hanging out at home today. We have a Sens Hockey Game on at 1 p.m. Hate afternoon Hockey games. I`m going to finish addressing my Christmas cards. I could put the Christmas tree up as well but I think maybe I`ll wait to do that until Monday.

    Am thinking of making
    Indian Pea And Potato Pancakes
    for lunch today, and maybe
Thai Meatball Lettuce Cups With Spicy Sweet Peanut Sauce
for dinner, providing I have enough Boston lettuce in the fridge.

Wishing everyone a super sweet Saturday!

    Good Morning Everyone.

It's sunny here at the moment with a mix of clouds. Hope it stays nice because I'm meeting a friend for lunch at the Mellow Mushroom. Haven't been to it yet so I hope it's good. Will be bringing LD with me so we will be sitting outside. I know I won't be hungry for dinner later and I have ground meat still in the fridge so I'll make a meatloaf for DH, maybe? If not I'll freeze it and make him something else.

I love the gingerbread display Janet and I agree, gingerbread = Christmas. I usually don't want gingerbread cookies but have been craving some. Maybe I'll make gingersnaps instead. I've been diffusing a blend of EOs that smells so good for this time of year (4 drops orange, 3 lemon, 2 cinnamon, 1 clove).

Not much else happening at the moment.

    Good morning.

Janet, it is 56 F here and sunny. Storms rumbled thru last night but most went south and east, although we were in the warning area for awhile. I was awake until about two. Finally curled up into recliner and dozed off when the weather subsided. I havent seen Baily flavored chips here. The gingerbread is so cute.

Have a nice time at the restaurant, Linda. I am sure LD will enjoy his ride. I need t lean the diffuser and add some essential oils also. It smells so good. Need to redo my young living order.....frankincense, lemon, Ledum. I have tangerine and orange for diffusing, maybe I should try your blend for a nice Christmas scent.

Wow on the Alaska earthquake. What devestation!

It is quiet here also. I have fire Dept election paperwork to do today so we can turn it in when are in Rolla Monday. Laundry is ever present so will have to start that also.

Mauser is on my lap, Fritz is in front of the heater. Am getting yogurt and blueberries for breakfast. See you later.

check out MountainRoseHerbs.com Karen. there EOs are often more affordable and just as good, especially if diffusing or using topical. I asked them if I matched theirs up to YLO (ingredient to ingredient, etc.) and if YLO could be ingested could theirs but they couldn't say due to labeling laws.

Good Morning Linda! Have a lovely lunch out with your girlfriend at the Mellow Mushroom. NICE on your Essential Oil blend. I had lavender in mine last night but was too exuberant adding the drops and I over did it. LOL. Plus I find it hard having a set of only 6 oils. Not enough to properly mix and match. :)

Morning Karen! I had to google Ledum as I didn`t know what it was and I still don`t know what it smells like. Good luck with your paperwork and laundry.

Made poached eggs on sourdough with fried tomatoes for breakfast.

Linda, I will check the Mountain Rose site. For diffusing / "smelling nice" I don't mind using other oils than YL. Rocky Mountain Oils is also a reasonably good website. Many YL oils, although not all, can be ingested...Frankincense. peppermint, the citrus ones, come to mind. Basil, oregano, etc. are great in cooking. They are considered the Cadillac of oils.

Janet, Ledum is supposed to be an anti-cancer oil but of course they can not claim that or put that on their labels due to the laws. It doesn't have a wonderful aroma -- but isn't bad either.

Paper work is done and now I will have to go to Rolla Monday and hand it in.

It is really windy outside. Trees are swaying and leaves are all blowing FROM the forest into our yard -- which means Wayne will have to get the leaf vacuum going when the wind subsides.

    Have a nice day!

Neat on Ledum being an anti-cancer oil Karen. Glad to hear you`ve finished your paperwork. Wow on all the wind. I`m lazy enough that I`d just wait for another wind to come and blow the leaves back in to the forest. :) LOL.

Game`s on. Jim has lit us a fire. I called my Mom earlier and she sounded good. Our neighbour rang the door bell too. Their dog (a beagle) Gizmo had got loose. I hadn`t seen him today but sometimes he runs through the yard. He`s a nice dog. I told her I`d call her if I saw him.

Got the Indian Pea and Potato pancakes prepped so will cook them at the end of the first period.

Hi everyone! We are just vegging out in front of the fire, too. It is currently 33F and freezing rain going on outside. Not nice considering I have to take the dog out on a leash since she just had ACL surgery Wednesday. She went to the vet this morning to have the bandage removed and all looks really good! She's a trooper! We have a 4x4 pen set up in the living room to keep her contained but right now she's on a leash laying by my feet. :) Our dinner tonight will be fajitas and Mexican rice I pulled from the freezer and hubby will make his awesome authentic Mexican guacamole. I don't know how many of you know, but we are owners of a Mexican restaurant. The manager is the father to 3 beautiful children we consider our grandchildren. The oldest is now 16 and they've been in our lives since she was only 4. Anyway...the fajita and rice are from there. When our son and daughter in law came home for a wedding reception here in October they had a fajita bar; these are the leftovers. Wasn't sure how they'd freeze but they froze nicely. Chuckieb hope your neighbor finds their dog. What are Indian Pea and Potato Pancakes?

I've never gotten into the essential oils. I work in a guidance office as the secretary at a high school and one of the counselors is into them and keeps a diffuser going most days. Some of the scents smell really nice. Others not so nice.

Well...I just looked at your link to the pea and potato pancake recipe. I would try them; not sure my hubby would really care for them. And, I forgot to comment about gingerbread; I too, think gingerbread just screams Christmas. :) I usually make a gingerbread biscotti for Christmas - my daughter and I are the only ones who really like it.

Hi Ann! What`s your dog`s name? That`s great she came through her surgery with flying colours. Is it tender for her to walk on that foot/leg? Yum on Fajitas and home made Guac. Super cool you guys have a Mexican restaurant!!! And also very cool that your son and DIL had a Fajita Bar at their wedding. What a fabulous idea. Gingerbread Biscotti sounds excellent. I haven`t eaten a lot of biscotti.

Speaking about essential oils, our Hockey team, the Ottawa Senators have started to use them on the bench this season. The sportscasters have mentioned it and you see them giving the little bottles a whiff. Wonder what scents they use?

I was disappointed with the potato pancakes. :( I halved the recipe and eyeballed the spices so maybe that`s where I ran in to trouble but they weren`t as flavourful as I remember them being. :( Sad.

Lunch was great. First time eating at the Mellow Mushroom and I liked it. The dough was much thicker on a pie than I'd like but it was light and airy, not heavy. Next time I'll try one of their salads.
Have laundry going now and will prep dinner soon.

I'll check out Rocky Mountain Oils Karen. When I had to rake leaves I would wait for the windyess day and they would usually blow away to someone else's area. But sitting on 160 acres it's all your area.

Ut-Oh … hope your neighbor finds their dog Janet. Bummer the pancakes were not all that. Will you try them again?

Hope your dog continues to do well healing from her surgery Ann. I'm sure it's tough, especially the part where you have to keep her still. When my DH was in the hospital 2 years ago all the head nurses stations had diffusers going with Lavender EO.

These were the cookies I made some years ago and I remember them being so good with a glass of milk. I may make some again soon.

SP Linda! That`s good you enjoyed your lunch. Can you ask for `thin crust`? It`s usually an option here. I`m sure I`ll try the pancakes again in the future. I used to make them ALL the time when Benjamin was at home but then I`d do the full recipe. I`ll be more careful next time halving my spices and I could totally error on the over side. Yum on the Molasses spice cookies. They`re very pretty and I like the glaze idea. Now I`m going to start to crave some. :)

Our Sens won which was nice and then we went out for a Hot Tub. Dinner is in the oven.

Good evening and hello to all. Just a quick hi here. We are unexpectedly going to St. Augustine tomorrow. Our vendor over there did a massive restock this week and we need a lot of things that they have been out of. I'm delighted as the town will be all decked out for Christmas so looking quite forward to that. May even do some Christmas shopping tomorrow night! Will return late Monday afternoon.

With that being said, I'm behind on things I need to get done and have to pack!

Hope all enjoy the rest of the weekend. See you Monday!

Hello! My dog is Annie. My name is not actually Ann - it's my middle name. My daughter used to call me "Mother Ann" whenever she thought I needed a scolding. You know how you use your kid's middle name when they've been bad? LOL She currently is not allowed to put any weight on that leg, it must hurt because she does not even try. She's been more awake today so I'm guessing keeping her quiet is going to be harder come Monday. Linda, those cookies look good. My mom used to make something like that years ago. I remember really liking them. Kimmer - have a great time and hope you do get some shopping in!

Have a fun trip to St. Augustine Kimmer. That`d be great if you got a bit of Christmas shopping in!

My apologies for calling you Ann MotherAnn. Poor Annie not being able to put any weight on her leg. When you said you had to take the dog out on the leash I assumed she could walk on it.

I`m a bit disappointed in the home made Cream of Mushroom soup. I used it for the first time tonight in the Pot Roast recipe. I`d made it and frozen it in jars in the freezer.
Make It Yourself Condensed Cream Of Soups
When I added it to the recipe along with the cup of water and then let it cook away it got really watery. I had to thicken it up once everything was done with some Veloutine. It tasted okay. I`ll try it again next time I make Chicken Tetrazzini and see how it goes.

Chuckieb - no apology necessary. Calling me Ann is fine, it's my middle name and a shortened version of my name on here. :) Yeah, poor Annie - she's hobbling around on 3 legs. The vet office gave me a halter that has handles in the front and back so I can just pick her up like a suitcase if she gets tired and it helps to steady her on the steps. I have made a version of those homemade condensed soups but never froze them. I just made up what I would need for whatever recipe I was making. When I made them, I never added water to them; I just dumped it in the recipe as you would a can of condensed soup. I always had good luck with it that way. I didn't check out the recipe you used; I used one off of AllRecipes called Cream of Anything Soup Mix; https://www.allrecipes.com/personal-recipe/62905902/cream-of-anything-soup-mix/
