Shake n' Bake Sunday

  • chuckieb 9 years ago
Good Morning everyone! A little gray here this morning and cool.
Jim read in the paper this morning that there is a walking tour at 2 p.m. at the Arboretum so we're going to head over to that this afternoon.
    http://www.friendsofthefarm.ca/gardens.htm
Sens Game on this evening. (Oh my goodness I'm so nervous and excited)
Gonna make Shake' n Bake chicken and
    Shake N Bake Potato Balls
for dinner with maybe a tossed salad on the side. Easy peasy.
    The
    Toad In The Hole
was very yummy last night and for my first attempt, I was pretty pleased how it came out.
Wishing everyone a most lovely Sunday.
On our way home Friday morning there was a woman seated next to me with THE CUTEST pug on her lap. It was chubby and happy and just a delight. I was surprised she was able to bring it with her on the plane (How cute would it be sitting on an airplane seat?) :) but it was wearing a vest saying "NSAR Certified" (National Service Animal Registry) . I'd heard about Emotional Support Animals before but never saw one. Never mind giving support to its owner....everyone who looked over it had their blood pressure lower I'm sure as it was just the cutest thing ever. I wanted to take a picture of it but didn't think it was appropriate. :)

I'm nervous and excited about the game tonight as well, Janet. I hope it warms up for your walking tour around the Arboretum this afternoon. When I was a kid I lived within walking distance of the Experimental Farm. We had lots of fun there Summer or Winter there was always lots to do. I also worked there in Ornamental Research and it was always interesting going into the greenhouses everyday. Pugs are adorable looking dogs and I have never seen a NSAR dog before either very neat they allowed on the plane like that. Your dinner sounds like it will be delicious!

MichelleB, Your new house is absolutely beautiful! I hope you get some gas for your stove soon. If you can get your hands on a fondue pot. You can cook some things in a small frying pan on top of the base of it with a tea candle. It takes a little bit longer but it is amazing how well it works. I bet you have already figured out what you are going to eat today with all those markets. Very cool on getting 20 bananas for .60! LOL However I don't know what I would do having 20 bananas at one time?

Shona, I still can't find you on Pinterest? This is me https://www.pinterest.com/JustCrewzin/ I am also on AR as Good4U. I pinned a great deal of your AR recipes too!

Karen, Wow on all those guns at the auction!

Michelle, How did everything work out last night?

Marie, I hope you are having a relaxing Sunday.

    Tina?

Den tried to get the blinds up by himself and then realized he had measured incorrectly. We called Blinds.ca and wondered what to do. They were very pleasant and and helpful and said there was no problem at all. They are sending new ones with the correct measurements now at no extra cost We asked where we were supposed send the blinds back to them. They said they didn't want them and we could dispose of them in any way we wanted. Den asked how many times they allowed people to do this? They said six times on six items! Wild eh! We are having pork chops for dinner with mashed potatoes and a veggie. Doing laundry today and I should dust and do my hardwood floors as they are looking dusty too!

    Wishing everyone a pleasant Sunday!

I haven't had shake N bake in a years! Pete would make shake n bake everything when he was living here for that year alone while the kids I waited for the house to sell. He said he used all the recipes on the boxes for dinner. And when we visited him for 10 days he was so proud to cook us shake n bake chicken over veggies! lol ;) He loves it! I love the idea of the potatoes, will definitely try that!
Tonight I am marinating some pork chops to have with fried rice, my regular soy/ginger/garlic marinade. It use to be a weekly dinner but we haven't had it in a month or more.
I have a busy week ahead, my son has to go to see the bone/muscular specialist (can't remember his title!!) at the re-hab. hospital. The MRI he had back in Dec. showed two abnormalities, one in his upper spine/vertebrae and one in his lower back/hips. We're finally getting some therapy now. They will give me his official diagnosis tomorrow as we are meeting with a team of doctors. I hope they don't need more tests, we'll see....
I'll look for you now Joce! :)
    Have a great day everyone!

    Hello ladies:)

Go SENS! I do hope they win today Janet! I just bookmarked your Bufflo Chicken recipe..boy oh boy, it sounds delish! Sounds like you had such a lovely visit to NY! Great BD present!

Joce, yes, we're relaxing today..had a job in Chico yesterday..no rest for the wicked I guess:) I was just mentioning to Rick this morning we only seem to be concentrating on business these days..we never get a break..something fun and relaxing to do. It's hard...everything seems to slow down during tax season here.. So, maybe one day soon, we can take a much needed vacay..:)

I'm making stuffed Anaheim peppers tonight for dinner..I have some meat (ground turkey) and tomatoes, onion, garlic and red pepper flakes simmering away for the sauce. I'll stuff the peppers with the sauce and top with Monterey jack cheese then bake..hope it turns out well:)

Wishing everyone a nice and relaxing Sunday!

Morning! Good luck to your Sens Janet! Yum on your dinner, you know I've never had shake n bake before in my life lol. Wonder if you can make the mix at home instead of buying the box? I saved those mashed potato balls, they look yummy! Cute on the pug :P

I can't believe they wouldn't have you send the blinds back Joce!! What a waste! Yum on pork chops.

Lol at Pete making shake n bake every night Shona :P Good luck with your busy week, glad you son is getting the therapy he needs and that you are finally getting a diagnoses for him.

You and Rick sure do work hard Marie! I am crossing fingers that y'all can get a break at some point..you need to do something fun, or just relax :) Oh YUM on your dinner! It should turn out well and you should post the recipe!!

Not many people showed up at Jimmy the mooch's little party yesterday. Karma can be a bi*ch huh? They kept telling us to come over (I guess since they now needed help to finish it all) and eat some crawfish. We hesitated for a while but eventually did. We don't need to get into any altercations with them, so we put the past behind us and went over there and ate some. We didn't stay long...Jimmy started getting drunk and acting stupid so us and the other neighbors went back to our garage and hung out. Stayed out a little too late lol.

Went and ate a Freebirds for lunch today, then came home to rest some more. When I get a little more energy in me I have some dusting and dishes to do. I have some of this sauce that I have leftover from making some ribs last week: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/chipotle-bbq-sauce/detail.aspx and I'm going to put it on some chicken leg quarters and hopefully grill them if it's not raining. Will serve with corn on the cob, some sort of potatoes and maybe a salad. Wishing everyone a great day!!

    Hi all
It is Monday morning here and I am guessing the hockey games are getting underway back home soon - I think it is early afternoon or something on Sunday in Saskatchewan right now.
Shake and Bake is something we used lots of when the kids were growing up and I think we did potatoes with it too. Sounds yummy to me!
Trying to figure out what to do with some eggs, stale bread, ripe bananas and powdered milk which is about what I have left in the house because I leave for a week at the other end of the island after tomorrow. I am thinking maybe I can manage some kind of stove top bread pudding or a french toast creation - only have a pot and no frying pan so traditional french toast and fried eggs are not too easy
Great idea on the fondue and tea light. I have tea lights so maybe I can rig something with my pot if I don't get more gas.
Anyway, off to work now - hope everyone has a great evening.

We had a lovely time at the Arboretum. It was very windy and cold when we arrived but shortly after the wind died down and the sun came out and I even had to unzip my jacket! :) It must be have been a really nice place to work Joce! That was unfortunate that Den didn't measure correctly but great that the Blind company will send new ones at no charge. Crazy eh? Your dinner sounds lovely. Good luck on the household chores.
Your porkchops sound good too Shona. Good luck with your son's specialist appointment.
It is indeed important to take a little break from work on occasion Marie. Clears the head. Hope you manage to take a break soon.
You very well may be the only person I've ever met in my 55 years to not have had Shake n' bake Michelle. :) I'm sure there's a homemade version of it but I grew up on the box so that's what quells the craving. :) Shaking head at Jimmy the Mooch. Yum on grilled chicken.
Crossing fingers you get a big tank of gas delivered today Michelle B. :)

Just quickly before I go for the evening!
MichelleB, If you have tea candles you can put them around under the burners on your gas stove. Of course with the gas totally off. Each candle equals one candle power so if you used three or four even you would be very amazed! A little word of warning never put a candle out with water it will explode in your face! Hot wax and water should never meet.
    Gotta go! Cheers!

Hey all. Busy weekend here! My nieces slept over and we took them to the circus.
Worked this afternoon and then to my SIL to another nieces 13th birthday.
There is a homemade version of Shake n bake somewhere on here. I have made it befor and I have actually subbed ground up rice cereal for bread crumbs to make it gluten free. It tastes like the box and seems to stick a little better.

hi. We are just back from Springfield. No coffee maker but found a CD - radio - phonograph at Bed Bath and Beyond, for the sun room. So tired from walking all over Bass Pro. It was apparently the day everyone brought their dogs....a Great Dane, miniature greyhound, two German Shepherds, an Akita all crossed our paths, plus a very friendly golden lab. It was dog day at Bass Pro, I guess.

LOVE the O.D.D. avatar! I would like to find more rhubarb but it is past the season.

Will see you tomorrow. It is past bedtime!
