This Beautiful Day Thursday

    Good Morning Everyone!

It's pretty outside, once again! I do know we are in need of rain pretty bad, BUT I love this weather! 68 degrees outside right now, and I think I'm about to open up the doors and windows. Need to run a few errands today but other than that I think I'll just hang out on the front porch and let Caiden run around :) That reminds me I need to take an Allegra!

Today I am picking up Briauna from school a bit early, she is doing a cheer performance in the middle of the football game and I need to her to practice. One of the older cheerleaders posted herself doing the cheer on U-Tube so the girls can practice at home. She is very excited! I will whip up dinner when we get home, sliced White Wine and Garlic specialty sausages sauteed up with some veggies. Hope everyone has a great day!!

Janet, the bowl I have is sort of like this but bigger (or those peppers are just huge lol)

    https://www.google.com/shopping/product/3984134990270905155?q=decorative+fruit+baskets&client=firefox-a&hs=Bv0&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&channel=sb&bav=on.2,or.r_cp.r_qf.&bvm=bv.77880786,d.aWw&biw=1252&bih=602&tch=1&ech=1&psi=EBZJVP3BIo-1yATIg4HQBQ.1414075930076.3&ei=FhZJVMGVEpC2yAS7woDoDA&ved=0CNMCEKYrMAw

so you would probably see the newspaper through it. I was thinking to just use another bowl with the newspaper idea but the only 2 other fruit/decorative bowls I have are glass and see through lol!

I love the pics. Go Briauna!!! Sausages and veggies is a good supper.
We have all the windows open too. Humidity is low and even though we will get to the low 80's, it feels less like a swamp. Sheets and towel wash day. Doctor Bell this afternoon.
Finally the Mexican lasagna has thawed and will be baked tonight.

Lynda is coming to visit on Monday and I'm trying to figure out a brunch menu that is easy. She said order pizza but "yuck" to me. Spinach and feta quiche or ham and cheddar quiche, corn and cherry tomato salad, Boston creme pie. All the ingredients are in house. She is on a whirlwind visit to Fl to visit her grand kids. One week, four families and a visit to Disney. She is the better woman.

Have a great day my friends.

Michelle - if you have a smaller glass bowl you might try inverting it and arranging the decorative squash on and around. Or put fall leaves between the bowls, squash in and on top. It doesn't have to be decorative as it will "disappear" among the goodies.

Tina - Have a nice visit! Enjoy your company. She sounds like my kind of person - easy to please and no fuss demanded. I have a high school friend who I see rarely, but when we do get together it is as if we were never apart!

I have Apple Cobbler Dump Cake in the oven for lunch. I tried white cake mix with a few tsp. of cinnamon mixed in. Will see how it turns out. Am thawing a frozen Schwann's chicken and wild rice soup to heat and will have PBJ sandwiches or maybe get creative and fix PB and apple sandwiches - as you might have noticed I have a ton of slightly over-ripe apples to use before they go bad, to far along to can or freeze but just right for cooking / baking.

Karen, she is easy to please except she is a total clean freak. My house is a mess. I need help in getting it Lynda ready. The kitchen counters are clear & polished. The dining room is next. If Fred doesn't remember where it goes, he dumps it on the dining table. Sunday will be swiffering and mopping. I'll be decluttering for the next few days. The dump cake sounds very yummy. Wonder if I could whip one up after the doctor?

Tina, dining tables are prime contestants for putting things on. Our's is now in the sun room and no one is allowed to leave a mess there. The LR is a cluttered disaster. Nothing gets put away. There are hats stacked on a "hunting stuff" storage box (empty) on top of an antique trunk we used as a coffee table - EXCEPT it is by the TV because it never got moved back to its assigned spot as a coffee table. Sigh. Deer season starts soon and all hunting stuff will land on the couch which is supposed to be gone gone gone but still graces my LR. Sigh sigh sigh. It would take a full time cleaning team to put this house in any sort of order. But before they could begin we would have to remove clutter / junk etc. and that is a herculean task.

    Hello all:)

Just got done putting groceries away, I left early this morning for Chico to Winco..I needed to get the pantry, fridge & freezer full again.

Tina, have a nice visit with Lynda, don't worry about your home not being super clean for your "clean freak" friend!!!! I'm sure it's just fine! I believe a little "mess" just means your home is lived in..we had neighbors where we used to live and I swear I was afraid to walk in their house...it was always pristine..way too clean for the likes of us:) LOL Just enjoy your self..your ideas for brunch sound perfect:)

Michelle, have fun today! Your dinner sounds right up my alley..love a good sausage & veggies:)

Hi Karen:) The cake sounds yummy..I have to say though, I haven't had much luck with dump cakes:( Please do let us know how it turns out!

Rick just walked in, now I have to get to work logging stuff:( Boo

Janet, how are things there...I'm glad Jim is safe & sound..what a tragedy.

    Hi Joce:)

    Hi everyone:)

Hi Guys! I'm late checking in. Had a Dental cleaning appointment this morning and then tea with my girlfriend, library, back into town, errands, groceries, Post Office, home, whew! I was on the search for a new recipe binder. Mine is totally overflowing so I splurged and got a new one as well as a bunch of clear paper sleeves to put the recipes in. Found a Christmas present in Chapters while I was there. Bought two nice rib eye steak to BBQ for dinner (I think).
Jim worked from home today. I think he's coming down with something but all the buses are being re-routed still in the downtown core and some streets around Parliament Hill are still closed off (some other idiot this morning tried to jump the barricade to the War Memorial while the Prime Minister and some MP's were paying their respects at the Monument. WTH?) So all in all it was just better if he worked from home.
I popped into Burger King for lunch. Ordered some new Spicy Burger with Jalopenos. The girl taking my order and I didn't communicate correctly and although I wanted a drink I didn't end up with one. So then my mouth was on fire. So I went to the little corner store right next door, grab a small bottle of water, pay more than I was expecting to, get out to the car, take a HUGE swig and BLECK.....it was one of those horrid fake fruit flavoured no calorie chemical laden things that looks like water but sure doesn't taste like it. What a waste. Chucked it out in the next garbage can I saw. Yuck. I can still taste it. :)
Glad you're having nice weather Michelle. Indeed, that bowl would be hard to stuff newspaper in as you'd see it out the bottom. I like Karen's idea of fall leaves. :) I have a very similar bowl downstairs and always forget about it. :) It would have been nice to have displayed gourds in alright! Did you do cheerleading when you were in school?
Good Luck with your Dr.'s appointment Tina. How fun Lynda is coming for a visit. I vote Ham and Cheddar quiche. I've been having a craving for it lately myself. I have to admit to being on the clean freak side myself. Not anally so and if you come in my house you'll most certainly see a few dust bunnies, but I do hate clutter and it bothers me if there are piles of things anywhere. It doesn't bother me in other people's houses, just my own.
That Apple Cobbler Dump cake sounds yummy Karen and a perfect Fall dessert. Do both you and Wayne deer hunt? Will you go locally or on a little trip?
Chico to Winco, Chico to Winco....say that 5 times fast! Yikes! :) Glad you got your errands done and all your groceries put away Marie. Things are fine here. Everyone is talking about what happened yesterday of course and I think everyone's just a little shocked. I feel so awful for the murdered man's family. He was 24 yrs. old. Same as Benjamin. :(

Referred to pain management and a swallow study for my overnight choking. Otherwise my brain checks out. BP was way too high, pulse 104. This too shall pass.

Watching the news, so sad. I feel so for the soldier's young family.
Made a batch of collards in slow cooker. Going to check the status of my apples and see if we wiil try a dump cake.

When Tyler died and I was in shock, Lynda took it upon herself to take all my crap off the walls, dust it, paint, sweep and mop three rooms of my house. She was an angel to me, but I felt horrible that she took those chores on herself. In retrospect, she loved Tyler as much as her own and perhaps while I was curled in a fetal position, she was compelled to clean. There are just three dumping areas to tackle. Then the floors......need a miracle for them. Four dogs in and out, what can I say?

Myhead iis pounding, going to rest...talk later. Hugs all.

Hi all. Back from last minute errands. Picked up butter because I was OUT and deposited a check in the Credit Union. We got our last produce assortment - I have not been thrilled about the condition of some of the veggies so it is time to stop for a while. Their honey is local so I can still pick that up sometimes. But some of the stuff is from Mexico! I wanted mostly local stuff, although bananas are obviously NOT grown here - LOL.

Tina - enjoy your friend's visit and pretend not to see the dog hair - our long haired dog is shedding the rest of the summer coat in preparation for his winter coat which he then sheds because he is an INDOOR DOG - Aargh! I sweep it up in the morning and ignore any new deposits. When we had our corgi mix her short hair had a contest with his long hair to see which could show up on more dark clothing.

But that is not nearly so bad as Mel deciding to upchuck on hide-abed -- couch -- floor -- kitchen floor -- hallway and a few other spots. I was so ticked I threatened to oust him permanently, but he just ignored me and barfed on. Sigh. Today I bought special cat food and will give the rest of the UTI preventative stuff to the outdoor cats, as he seems sensitive to it and they could care less what they get. Dog fur dust bunnies are far less a problem than hair-ball regurgitation -- count your blessings and enjoy your friend! I'm sure whatever you fix will be fine.

Wayne was in the mood for hot tea so I made him some lemon and I had honey bush tea. Mine was not real strong so I guess it is aging. I really need to go thru the tea and pitch some of the real ancient brew.

Tonight is leftover night - pizza slice for me and sandwich for him. Grilled salmon sounds better - LOL. Maybe we will finish off the dump cake. It turned out pretty good. I may use half a box of the mix next time or get a Jiffy mix size. I added cinnamon to a white cake mix for a little flavor. The Schwann's frozen chicken wild rice soup turned out pretty good also. I let it thaw a bit, then put in a pan on low heat and it thawed as it cooked. Took forever but the result was worth it.

Janet - my sister lives near Ottawa but was not anywhere near the city when this came down. I believe we haven't heard the last of Muslim extremists.

    Hi Marie and Michelle.

One of my customers from the Hardware store was taking a course once on Pain Management. He was such an upbeat person I hadn't ever realized he was in pain. Good to hear your brain checks out Tina. :) The Dental Hygienist took my BP this morning and said it was through the roof but I told her I'd been behind the world's slowest driver getting to my appointment and I'd been ready to scream. :) (I was saying really bad words in my head) :) Sometimes when we're dealing with grief we just need something to do so we feel useful as really we truly just feel at a loss and totally useless. I'm sure you should just ease off and not fret so about Lynda's arrival. She'd rather have you there in good spirits than all exhausted with a headache and swollen legs!
We're forging ahead with the BBQ rib eye. Twice baked spinach potatoes and a tossed salad. I even picked up a bottle of red wine so we're all set. :)

Janet - we only hunt on our own land - well, I do. He goes out to the forests but not on opening day. Too many crazies. My main task is to stay awake and wake him if I see a deer. Ha ha. There were seven deer in the pasture with the horses this morning. They will disappear on the opening day, I guarantee.

    Hey all
Saw the white squirrel twice today, he doesn't appear to have red eyes so. Don't think he is albino but a very rare white squirrel. I looked it up and they want you to call with the location and maybe a picture but I always see him from my car and I've seen others taing pictures so maybe someone notified.
I made whole crockpot chicken by floridasunshine I don't have the link. Also stove top stuffing. Yuck. Has the seasoning in it that I don't like. Tastes like mold to me but not to anyone else.

I'm all for eating venison but I'm afraid I've established too close of a relationship with the deer on our property for me to ever think of shooting one of them. My Dad used to hunt Moose and Deer.
I'd love to see your White Squirrel Laurie. Very envious. I have one gray, two black and I think three red squirrels at the moment. The reds are so skittish but one is friendlier than the other two. One's really grumpy (they're very high strung red squirrels) but comes for peanuts anyway. :) One black squirrel is very tame and the gray and the other black keep their distance but know to come out once I'm in the house as I'll have left treats. :) The deer have pretty much finished the two pumpkins I chopped up so I'll cut up another one on Saturday.
Nice pics you posted on FB. But I'm not sure who they are? You? Your Mom?
Jim's just lit a fire for us in the fireplace and I'll go out and start up the BBQ shortly.

White squirrels but not albino? Cool! I'd like to see him. Is he protected from hunting, Laurie?

We are unsure if our blond raccoon is albino or half or just an aberration in coloring. He has pink eyes, feet, nose but his fur is ginger - orange color. Haven't seen him a long time but the acorns and persimmons are plentiful so he may be dining out. LOL.

We usually see deer before and after hunting season - they must have an alarm clock because they sure seem to change their trails and habits precisely at the start of the season. They are beautiful animals.

Enjoy the fireplace Janet! We have a space heater going to take the chill off but don't have to run it much during the daytime yet. I don't know about hunting moose. Wayne is thinking of turkey hunting but I like having turkeys on the place far too much to hunt them.
