Thursday Thyme

Good Morning Everyone. Uugh, I'm up so early. Woke up around 5:30 a.m. wide awake. Figured no sense just laying there tossing and turning so I got up. Since I had some of this already prepped in the fridge (made it for IMI2 October challenge) I am having a warm cup of it now. So good.
Rescuerangers Famous Pumpkin Latte Non Caffeine

Will be taking LD to get his haircut this morning then after we will go pick DH up and he'll be home for the weekend. Don't know how I got suckered in to the weekend now including Thursday. He is so bored and has nothing to do so ...
Dinner tonight will be Janet's pork tenderloin. My rosemary bush is doing great (about the only thing I can successfully grow) and I want to use it. Will roast veggies too with it (potato, parsnips, carrot, broccoli)
Dijon Pork Tenderloin With Rosemary And Thyme

Good to hear you are safe Marie. Those fires are so bad, worse than hurricanes. It's heartbreaking seeing the news. One of the Refugee girls sister lost everything, got out literally with the clothes on their backs.

Morning Linda! Your are up early today, enjoy your pumpkin latte, I plan on making that sometime soon. Yum on pork tenderloin, glad to hear you rosemary bush is doing so well. I just noticed yesterday that the pesky pea plants that grow like vines in our backyard had wrapped itself around my rosemary plant (which is HUGE) and is a total mess. I will need to get out there today and cut it free. I was thinking NOTHING could kill my rosemary, but this could actually be it's demise lol.

Just tackling my chore list again today. I didn't get much done yesterday, Michael is very distracting when he's off work and home and wants to do other things and then needs my help. So annoying lol, j/k! Anyway, so I'll continue today and may make a list of errands for him to run or something to get him out of my hair haha.

It's been a while since I made the cheesecake pops and I had forgotten that the cheesecake needed to chill for at least 3 hours before scooping into balls, so that part will be done today :) I found some dark chocolate melting chips at the store, which I've never used, so hopefully that will make the dipping a little easier than usual, maybe smoother chocolate?

Dinner will be leftovers. I ended up making just a one pan Italian sausage, potato and veggie bake. So we have a lot of that left, plus some burritos from the other night as well. Hoping everyone has a great Thursday!!

Good morning Linda and all to follow. Up early myself today. Nice and cool out as Chloe and I are enjoying coffee on the porch. Well, only I have the coffee, lol! So good to hear you are safe Marie. Wow, so scary!

In answer to the question the other day about the hotel rooms, yes, at first we were staying at the Edgewater Inn which is right on the Mantanzas River. It was delightful but unfortunately the last time we were there it had been really rainy all day and the room was, well, "moist" all night even with the air on. Plus, they had done some work on the back doors that lead to the river view and put in thin white blinds. You couldn't see through them but the light at the back door shined into the room all night and you couldn't turn the light off. And the bed was right across from the door! Didn't sleep much that night. There were a couple other minor things that bothered us too with that stay. The last couple of times we have gone back to the Hilton right on the beach that we have stayed at before. Very pricey. Last time (not this trip) we got our room free because they have a guarantee check in at 4:00 and our room was not ready until after 5. But when we got to our room it was wonderful! Very clean, lovely view and heavy curtains! This time we decided to just go there again as we are part of their rewards program. We had already reserved our room and checked in before leaving town. When we got there the room was "just" ready, which was fine. The maid had not shut the door yet so we walked right in. Well, the lady at the desk wrote the wrong room number on our card key envelope! Fortunately, hubs had noticed it was not the same number as our print out and tried our card key. Nope, not our room! We got that straightened out but was horrified thinking what if we had just dropped our stuff and left, like we usually do. This time we had eaten before getting to the hotel so we weren't ready to leave just yet. I'm sure they would have taken care of it but just thinking about someone touching or pilfing through our things gives me the heebee jeebees! The room wasn't as clean as usual and the toliet made this horrific noise every time you flushed. The sink had drainage problems and the fan in the bathroom didn't work. The breakfast in the morning was cold. The TV was not working properly and you could only get the basic 3 channels, which they said they were working on but never got it fixed in time. Normally, we would just go....oh well......but this was a $250 room because of season and we just expected better. Plus, IT'S A HILTON ON THE ATLANTIC!! We did make our grievances known to the front desk and they said this was unusual and hoped we came back. Not sure we will. May try another spot on the river again next time. Ok, I've ranted enough about that for one day, lol!

Was taco night last night and not sure yet what's on the menu for today. Thinking maybe some Chicago style hot dogs (sort of) with some oven fries. Easy!

Better start getting ready for the work day. Hope all enjoy the day. Will try to pop in later.

I think that Pumpkin Latte recipe is very fun. I bookmarked it. Good luck with LD's haircut. I'm tickled you enjoy that Pork Tenderloin recipe. It does give off a lovely fragrance doesn't it! And I'm not even a huge fan of rosemary. I'm very sad to hear that someone lost so much in the California fires. :( At least they are alive.

Marie, I was very relieved to see your post last night and also relieved to hear that things might be getting a little better.

That's kind of amusing that the peas were strangling the rosemary Michelle. LOLOL. Dark chocolate dipped cheesecake pops......WOW. Sounds heavenly.

I don't blame you for being irked with the Hilton Kimmer. I don't know that we've ever spent $250 on a room. With points certainly but not without. For that amount of money things should be perfect pretty much. The light coming in the window at the Edgewater Inn would drive me bonkers. I'm a total 'needs to be dark' sleeper. Yum on tacos. Haven't had that in a while and it sounds good. As do Hot Dogs! :) I had to google what makes it "Chicago style". That's A LOT of toppings! I don't think I've ever had tomato nor dill pickle on a hot dog but I'd be up for trying. :)

So nice to see chit chat first thing in the morning. It's a lovely sunny Thursday morning here in the Ottawa Valley. 8C/46F at the moment going up to 17C/62F this afternoon. I still have morning glories blooming. Anyone else grow them? Some bloom the normal light blue but some bloom a deep blue. It's very cool.

Enjoying some Bailey's Pumpkin Spice in my coffee this morning to set the mood for making gingerbread cookies today. LOL. No clue what to make for dinner but we head for the Muskoka's tomorrow and I have some heirloom tomatoes and some asparagus I'd like to use up since we'll be gone for a couple of days. Just have to think of a main.

Wishing everyone a most lovely day.

    Hi all:)

Linda, I was up earlier than usual this morning as well..woke up at 4 am, couldn't get back to sleep..sigh. Oh no...she lost her home? Where was this? That is so very sad...

Michelle, too funny on Michael messing up your plans:) I like to send Rick off on errands when he gets in my hair as well..he LOVES to go grocery shopping:)

Kimmer, I sure would be miffed as well on your hotel experience! We have spent that much on a room, it was at Ft Bragg, it had a view of the ocean, but the stairs going to your room were crazy..so confusing, we kept going the wrong way...they had different levels that were just , like I said, confusing! Nothing like getting lost trying to get to your room..we were both thinking..what if a fire had started..we'd have to jump a few flights down, cause we'd frickin get lost trying to use the stairs! No elevator either...ok, done with the stairs rant:)

Janet, I am so sorry to worry you:( I get lost in the "day" at times..so much going on...
I want to ask a question re: pork tenderloin..your recipe Linda is making sounds wonderful, Rick would love it..I also have a huge Rosemary bush I need to start looking for recipes while include it;) Anyway, what temp do u usually cook the pork to? I've noticed on The Food Channel, it looks pretty pink, so really just don't know that much about cooking pork since I don't eat it!!!! Thanks:)
BTW, tomato and dill pickle are delicious on a hot dog! Way back when I used to eat beef, I loved Zot's Hot Dogs! http://zotsdogs.webs.com/

I'm taking Tippi in for her yearly checkup and a feline leukemia vac...need to pickup a few things at the grocery store, then off to the feed store for some cat food...then back home to get caught up on stuff...

Rick will grill pork chops for him and a chicken breast for me..he'll probably just use rub on both..baked sweet potatoes and salad for dinner...

Hi Joce & Karen & everyone who pops in:)

    Have a lovely day!

Oh, Michelle, I posted a link to the CA Fire Map the other day, I don't think u saw it..just click on the flame and it gives you the fire info...I can't click on the one near us because the Cherokee Fire "flame" is right on top of the Honey Fire "flame"!

    God morning.

I hate it when a hotel room is bad. We try to stay at Hampton's if it s at all reasonable noble.Never Red Roof....too many problems. I read reviews online but that is misleading at times.

We were in Columbus Ohio one time, did not make reservations bec there were many hotels/motels. Well, some concert was playing that we didn't know about and it took forever to land a motel. It was an old style former Ramada Inn. Very worn furnishings. Old furniture. It was the nicest place! The linens smelled clean and just washed, not a speck of dust, bathrooms were slightly outdated but sparkling clean. At half the cost of the big name ones. You just never know.

Don't you just hate waking up early, Linda, and sleep is just not in the realm of possibility!

Wow on the attacking peas Michelle.

Hi to all. Battery down to 3 percent so must go before it dies

Amusing that Rick likes to grocery shop Marie. :) Not many men do I don't think. No worries about worrying me. It is not mandatory that you check in to GR each and every day. :) But I'm glad when you do. LOL! :) LOL @ having to jump a few flights of stairs to navigate your way out of a Hotel fire. Can you say "Vivid Imagination"? LOLOLOL. Just razzin' ya FSW. :) I cook Pork 'til well done so I probably do bake my tenderloin in the oven at 350 for 45-60 min. but.....if you go on that recipe page, you'll see Linda's photo and she cooked hers at 325 for 30 min. and you can certainly tell that hers is less well done, more pinky and juicy. It all depends on how you like it. If you are going to do that for Rick, I would coat a chicken pc. breast/thigh whatever it is you like in it as well cuz I bet it would be nice on chicken too. Good luck to Tipi on her Dr.'s appointment. :) The Zot's dogs look awesome and what great prices!!!!! Your dinner sounds yummy. Have a great day.

What's red roof Karen? I use Trip Advisor to guage the quality of the Hotel. Some people have good experiences and some bad but if you take an overall look I think you get a pretty accurate idea.

Just spoke to the nurse at the hospital in Thunder Bay. Mom is slated to be flown by air ambulance to Fort Frances today. I'll call back later this evening and see if it happened.

You'll love the pumpkin latte drink Michelle. I know I do and look forward to sitting down with a warm mug at night reading a book. Hopefully your rosemary bush will be fine but yes cut away what's wrapped around it. Hope too you get everything you want to get done done today. Yum on cheesecake pops!

That's stinks Kimmer that you didn't enjoy your trip to St. A. as much as other times because of the room. It does ruin the experience. Something like that happened to us when we went to Key Largo, the room was awful and we cut our trip short because of it. Chicago dogs sound great. Now you have me wanting some Hebrew Nationals.

I love rosemary Janet. That and basil are my two favorites. Love many herbs but those the most. I would like to plant some morning glories along the wood edge so they can wrap themselves up the trees and make the view all the more prettier. That's great news your mom is going back to Ft. F. Neat too on being airlifted to get there.

Not sure if you know Celeste from A.R. Marie ... she is in Santa Rosa, not sure though where her sister was, she didn't say on the post. The pork tenderloin recipe is Janet's and Joce has a good one too. Old Fashion Stuffed Pork Tenderloin
I cook them at 350 for about 1/2 hour or until about 150-160 inside (depends how big/small it is). I let it sit for about 5 minutes before cutting. We like ours done just a little more.
This is a really good recipe that uses rosemary. https://www.bonappetit.com/recipe/ditalini-with-chickpeas-and-garlic-rosemary-oil

Hi Karen. I do hate waking up early and then getting off my routine. Just messes everything up.

LD is looking fabulous! and smells good too. I always wait for him while he is being groomed, it takes about an hour but it's nice talking to the people that come and go. So many of them are nice/interesting.

Made tuna salad for lunch and had tuna salad sandwiches with potato chips. Need to make a grocery list for tomorrow. I'll head out to the store mid morning and get what I need. Trying to stick to a meal plan, wish me luck. LOL!

Lol at Rick liking to go grocery shopping Marie :P Michael would SO not go for that, but I'm okay with it cause I love to grocery shop lol! I usually pull out our pork loin when it reaches about 150 degrees. Once it rests, it’s about 155 degrees, which is perfect for us and still juicy and slightly pink :) Thanks for the link, I didn’t see that! I’ll check it out.

    Hi Karen :)

Thanks for the update on your Mom Janet!

I’m with you Linda, basil and rosemary are my favorites as well :) Lol, glad LD smells fabulous, a freshly washed dog is always nice :P

Making some progress on my list!! Just had a huge salad for lunch and now I need to roll my cheesecake balls lol.

Oops I got the temp wrong Linda sorry. I had read your IMI review of the Pork Dijon recipe and I thought I'd read 325 but you'd said 375. Glad to hear LD is looking so good. :)

Interesting on which herbs everyone favours. My all time fave herb is thyme, second would be basil.

Finished the cookies. It went quicker than I was expecting.

Got a message from Benjamin. It's his birthday Monday. He received the birthday card I sent him which is great. I put some Starbucks Pumpkin Latte envelopes in it. :)

I cook between 350 - 375 Janet depending if I need to "hurry" it up or not. That's great Benjamin got his gift! The timing was perfect.
I'm loving everything pumpkin and plan to make Shona's pumpkin scones next. I already drank up the pumpkin latte ... its addicting!

Thanks to everyone for the pork tenderloin cooking tips! I appreciate it:)

HA! Janet..yeah, jumping a few flights of stairs would be my luck..probably end up with a broken leg or 2..sigh Best wishes to your Mom...bless her heart.

Linda, no I don't know Celeste...Santa Rosa is getting hit very hard with wildfires...hope they are all ok....so devastating

Michelle, your welcome for the link..just kindof gives u info on each fire going on...

Rick likes to go grocery shopping because he can get what HE wants, not what I pick out for him..he comes home with huge packs of meat ..then I have to Foodsaver all the meat..because he's the only one who eats it...his excuse is, he got a better deal since he bought in quantity ...whatever:)

    Back again.

Red Roof is motel chain Janet .... don't know if it is in Canada or not. We have a wedding to go and a get together afterwards at their farm. So We are taking the RV to a place close by and staying over. She much easier than all the driving all that distance. Besides I have been anxious to go somewhere again.

No, never heard of Red Roof Karen. That's a great idea to take the RV and stay over after the wedding. More relaxed that way. Can you bring Fritz?

Dinner was fantabulous!! Roasted carrots, parsnips, and broccoli along with the pork tenderloin for a perfect one pot meal. Made some package gravy ... couldn't have been easier or more delicious.

Too funny that Rick comes home with huge packages of meat Marie. I guess it's meat you don't eat too. Oh my.

That's great you have the RV to take Karen when you go places. I would much rather stay in the comforts of something that was my own. Just wish I could drive an RV. If I could I would have one too.
