Thursday's Thread

Good Morning everybody! Didn't get a chance to get back on yesterday. Busy day from start to finish! My girlfriend and I went to the Aulde Dubliner
    http://www.heartandcrown.ca/dubliner.aspx
for lunch yesterday and both of us had Fish n' chips. It was very yummy. She's been taking a Cake decorating course and I brought her a package of these adorable pink cupcake liners with a pattern punched out along the rim. In her last class she learned how to make roses to decorate a cake with and they're just beautiful. Her husband and son have been an appreciative audience for her practice runs!
We met up with Benjamin after work and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. We ordered Masala Dosai, Devilled Chicken (holy hot batman!), Vegetable Thali and a Roti dish that was very, very good. Had a ton of food and sent the majority of leftovers home with Benj to snack on.
Joce, your Bread Making exploits sounded perfectly delectable! One of the best smells in the world I think.....bread baking in an oven! LOL @ the Big Girl Baking Apron!
Benjamin is finished this school term at the end of April Lori, so it sounds like Hil goes a little bit longer. And yep, we're gone for another 12 days. I'm looking forward to it actually. Glad things went over okay with your friend. And poor Bryan! Goodness! Your dinner last night sounded fabulous!
How did your Pizza night go Laura? Sounded fun! Sometimes it's hard to do something for someone that has previously been so independent. You aren't certain when to step in or how they'll feel about it. At least this is the last year your Dad has to do taxes, so......
So pleased to hear that Billy arrived safe and sound Corinne. Argh on the ticket. Indeed 'quite the welcome' but you both must be so pleased just to have him there.
Do share your thoughts on the "Hunger Games" with us Dahlia. Inquiring minds want to know! :)
Had to giggle just a bit over Fred's picture on the ticket Tina! Hope you got a really good sleep after all the poking and prodding yesterday. Hope all those tests will lead to some
    respite for you!
Have too much on my plate so am doing a very low-key dinner to take the pressure off! Grilled salmon salad sandwiches with soup. Have a couple different kinds of soup frozen so will thaw one out. Easy peasy!
Hope everyone has a good one!

    Good Morning!!!
Janet, I'm so jealous...I've been craving fish and chips lately. May have to hit the fish market some time soon.
Tina, hope you find some relief soon. LOL @ Fred and the red light ticket. We have those cameras downtown too and SIL has been bagged a couple times for not coming to a full stop before turning right.
Billy got his truck emptied yesterday and started unpacking. Got a phone call last night from someone he sent his resume to before he came down. Has an interview today.
Tonight's supper is chili dogs.....I've been getting away with sandwich like suppers for the last few days....Les is doing a little side job after work and isn't getting home until late. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!!!......I have to admit though, sometimes making a simple sandwich is as time consuming as making a whole meal.

Good Morning! Off to get a primp. Spent some time this morning trying to figure out how to accomplish the task put before me by FrankieAnne to add any recipes of my that others have made to IMI. I can't really figure out how to do that easily. Any suggestions welcome.

    Good Morning!!!

So glad you enjoyed your lunch with your friend, and dinner with Benj, Janet! That's a good day, huh? Love that you saw you fave hockey player at work the other day! (Think I forgot to mention that). Is Benj going to go to CA with you some when he's out of school? I know you are looking forward to this next trip, that is when your SIL is going to join you, right? Supper sounds wonderful! Is your grilled salmon salad posted?

HUGS Tina! I hope the get your issue figured out with this test! OMG on how long this has been dragging on! I had to laugh at the red light pic, too! NOT funny on the $$$, but, I can just SEE that pic of Fred, and him denying it...lol. : )

WOW on Billy having an interview already, Corinne! Keeping my fingers, legs, eyes and everything else crossed for him. : ) SOOOOO glad to hear you say that making sandwiches is as time-consuming as a whole meal! ME TOO! Sometimes I fuss because "easy" things like that can be more trouble for me than making a whole meal from scratch. Glad to see I'm in good company! How long will Les' side job last?

Hey Laura! Enjoy your primp! My short hair was cut way to short last Saturday, and I have the Alfalfa (sp) look going on in a couple of places. lol Frankie Anne will have to actually ADD the recipes to the group. There will be a drop down on the page of the recipe, on the right, at Add to Group. Select I Made It, and it will send a request to the moderators of the group.
I would start a thread, too. WIth the title of the recipe, then, in the comments, I would just say that so and so made my ____ and copy and paste the comment.
Threads are the only way some of us use IMI. When I search recipes, I search the whole site because I think that's faster than going through each of the individual groups. However, when I see the recipe name in a thread of IMI, I will pop in to the thread and see the comments if its' something that sounds good to me. I never look in the recipes tabs of groups any more...I'd say I'm not the only one. : )

Well, I just got slammed at work and this comment has been sitting forever without being posted. You probably already have your answer, but, am posting anyway. : )

HEY to all not here yet!

Hi Corinne! Glad to hear Billy is getting all unpacked and settled in. That's excellent he's already got a call for a job interview! Good Luck Vibes going his way! Yum on the Chili Dogs! :)
Hi Laura! I read the thread that's going on over in IMI and to be honest I haven't quite processed it myself. I think what I'll do is just go through my recipes (I don't have near as many as most of you) and add to the IMI Group any people have actually said they've reviewed in the IMI thread. Just ask Frankieanne if you're not quite sure and I'm sure she'll tell you the easiest way! Have a good primping session.
Hi Lori! Yes, we hope to bring Benjamin to Sunnyvale in August just before he heads back to University. And yes, it's this visit my SIL is coming to see us for a week. I'm very excited! My Grilled salmon sandwich is way too basic to post. I just make up a plain salmon salad with chopped onions and pepper and mayo and then put it between bread and grill it like a grilled cheese. I prefer it that way to toasting it. Oh....and thanks for explaining more about the IMI thing. Like I said, I haven't had a chance to process it yet.
Yum on the Roast Beef Laurie and yuck on the cleaning and laundry! :)

Janet, Very pleased you had a delightful fun filled delicious day yesterday. Ben should be in heaven with all those awesome leftover's too! Try and take it easy today as planned and then you will be prepared for your trip on Sunday. An easy dinner is always welcome here.

Tina, Good luck today and hope they can resolve something today. LOL Fred is a hoot! What a guy:-)

Corinne, Good luck to Billy today. I hope he nails the interview. Then you can have a celebration
chili dog dinner tonight! Hope Les isn't doing that job for very long. I am still amazed a how he can do it!

Laura, Have a great day and enjoy your primp:-)

Lori, LOL Alfalfa too funny! I say I look like Eddie on the Munsters when my hair is too long. Thanks for the info on adding the recipes. I generally search the whole site also. Not quite sure on adding things at the moment. I guess I will wait and see if it is helpful or not or if I will muddle it up. Don't work too hard today save some strength for the weekend.

Laurie, Pot roast is yummy anytime! No idea what the laundry fairy is up to? I know she isn't here either!

The bread was a hit and very pleased with the results. I cut up one loaf and put it in the freezer. Hitting the pavement very soon b/c it is nearing the end of the month. Seniors get paid etc. and it is always busy in the stores. Going to try to get ahead of the weekend swamp of people. Dinner is stuffed pork tenderloin.

    Hi Everyone!!!

Hey Laurie! lol at pot roast vs roast beef. Pot Roast is when it's cooked with all the veggies in the same pot. (Potatoes, carrots, onions are standard...I add mushrooms and celery when I have it). Either way, it sounds great! That @#$@#@#$ fairy hasn't been to my house either. : (

LOL Janet, on not processing that whole thing in IMI yet. Kinda taking everyone around the mullberry bush, when a few short sentences would work. lol (And I get to say that because I am the world's WORST to do that myself!) : ) Basically, Frankie took over the group because Lillian just doesn't have time. When Lillian created the group, she said we should add recipes that others made and reviewed, but didn't add to the group. (Not everyone participates in groups). So, to do that, just request your recipe be added to the group. (Click I Made It on the add to group drop down on the recipe page, that automatically sends a note to Frankie to add the recipe). You can do that only, or, you can also start a thread in IMI for that recipe. I prefer seeing threads myself. I don't search recipes in individual groups. But, I do look at the threads in IMI to see what others are making, and often that sparks an interest for me. That's it in a nutshell.

Lillian also created a "fake member" called "reviews", She would add all the recipes that were added to IMI there for people to be able to search them. Honestly, I never understood it. Seems like redundant, wasted effort to me...because if someone wants to search strictly for recipes from IMI, they can search them in that group...? But I guess some people use it. That's nothing you have to do. Frankie will do that, and, from the looks of my recipes, she's been adding them to Reviews hot and heavy! : )

So glad the bread turned out well, Joce! It sounds fantastic!! What are you stuffing your pork tenderloin with?

OH, yeah, on your own recipes to IMI...as far as searching your own recipes to see what was made and not added...no simple way. The only thing you can do is go through them one by one, open them up and see. Unless, you happen to have a comment on your profile page (I had some, but, they've fallen off. (ARRRGGGH!) Or, if you happen to have a good enough memory that just seeing your recipe title sparks a memory.

Ugh, why do teachers give tests the week marks close, with no chance for extra credit? Rachel got a 63 on her science test, came home hysterical yesterday so I told her to talk to the teacher, but apparently marks close today. so she is getting A's in everything and a C in science. On a better note she was chosen today as student of the month. Her history teacher told her today and she said "great I am getting a C in science and I am student of the month! " I am hoping maybe he will talk to the science teacher so she will bump her up to a B- and at least get honors if she can't get high honors. Maybe if she knew that for the last 3 semesters she is the only teacher keeping Rachel of Honor roll.

LOL Joce at getting ahead of the Seniors rush! :) Hope you got your errands all accomplished. What are you stuffing your tenderloin with?
And LOL @ you Laurie and the Mega Millions ticket. I agree with Lori....you should buy the tickets! :) I know how important the marks are to Rachel, and this is just my humble opinion, but it is a lesson in itself to learn how to not get 'perfect' or not 'win' all the time. Life is a series of ups and downs and kids need to learn how to deal with success and failure. Both are equally important lessons. And a 'C' is certainly not a failure, but you know what I mean.

Afternoon! It's been a while. I've had sick kids and sick me as well with the flu the last two weeks. Hopefully we're getting over it! How is everyone doing? Hope to be back on more soon! Tonights dinner is pork chops, slathered in mayo/seasoings then dipped in cornflake/shredded cheese mix. I don't know if there is a name for this it's just something my mom used to make and she got the recipe from a friend. On the side I'll have cheesy scallooped potaotes and sting beans-- and lets not forget chocolate cake-- Betty Crocker style.

Other than being sick, not much more going on here. I'm trying to clean the house over after neglecting it this past while. I just looked over my to do list and numbered the items from 1 to 3 in priority of things that need to done. At least Spring gives me the perfect boost to get things back in order. I'm getting excited for Easter for my kids. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and we can do an egg hunt this year! Until later my friends!

I know what your are saying Janet, but Rachel works so hard for her grades and its her dream to see a report card with all A's. So far she hasn't acheived it, always its math and science holding her back. She really thought she was close but this grade put it out of her reach. The teacher counts all of the quizes, which are all in the 90's with one 81 as one grade and then the tests count twice. so this 63 will get averaged in 2 times. So it just doesn't seem fair that there is no chance for extra credit since it was given the day marks close.

Hi everyone! Been working on laundry all day. Darn fairy is nowhere to be found in these parts, either.. Last load for today is in the dryer, but there's still more to do! What the..?? Late dinner this evening. Soft tacos (multi-grain corn tortillas trying out for the first time) w/shredded chicken seasoned with Best Ever Taco Seasoning Mix, pinto beans & rice and salad. Finally made Corrine's Lemon Blueberry Bread, it's in the oven now. Going to my friend's house tomorrow morning to help her stuff envelopes for her wedding invites. Might join her & her fiance for their tasting w/the caterer too. We'll see.. Yes, buying tickets for the Mega Millions. Everything crossed!!!!
