Time to paint Thursday

  • MissouriFarmWife 9 years ago
GS is coming over to earn some money by painting or cleaning the porch or readying the flowerbeds or pick up the yard to ready it for mowing, bringing stuff down from the garage loft -- all kinds of miscellaneous chores. After getting over an inch of rain yesterday, he may be doing the inside stuff. The best laid plans of mice and men --- etc.

I am typing on the iPad so forgive any unique phrasing.

Plan was to trim the number of groups I follow. I ended up adding two more. Hoping dieting doesn't give the same results. Aargh!

I guess it is about time to get dressed and do something constructive. Before GS arrives! He is so funny. A real city dude! We have enough to keep him busy!

Good Morning Karen! Lovely picture! Glad the storms went south. Heard Oklahoma and Arkansas got hit. Congrats to your youngest grandson re: his academic reception for honor roll kids. That's awesome! Nice your grandson is coming over to lend a hand today. I'm envious that your yard is near ready to mow and ready to clean out the flower beds. Our yard is a mess this morning. It warmed up some and things are melting and shrinking. It's brown and yucky looking on the lane way and under my bird feeders where it gets high traffic. :) (Lots of turkey poop to avoid when you're walking out there too! Ewwww......)
I started a flank steak marinating last night in an Asian mix and am going to serve that up for dinner this evening along with the slaw from Tina's
Crispy Pork Steak With Asian Slaw
If I'm extra energetic or extra hungry I may make up an appy. Saw on pinterest a pin that showed stuffing a mushroom cap with boursin cheese. It looked pretty yummy. :)
Busy and fun day today. Going over to a friend's house for tea this morning and then meeting a second friend for lunch at
    http://www.theswanatcarp.ca/
Jim and I were just there not long ago. I really loved the smoked wings but might try the Bento box that Jim had last time.
Back is feeling better this morning so I am on the mend. Whoop.
    Wishing everyone a great day!

Very cool pic, Karen. Is it one of the ones Wayne took yesterday? Yes as Janet, said it is rather dreary and mucky looking here with patches of mud and there is still quite a bit of snow to melt yet! Enjoy your time with your GS today.

Janet, Your dinner sounds just awesome! Have fun today and enjoy your yummy lunch at the Swan.

    Tina, (Posted another thread.)
Tina, Very cool on all those baby showers! Have fun picking out things to buy for them:)

Michelle, Marie, Shona and everyone else?

We are having lasagna for dinner. Very easy as it is in the freezer left over from last week. All I have to do is warm it up and make a salad and serve it with some ciabatta bread. Voila done! Depending on how I feel later I will run to a couple of stores. I need milk and a few things also have to pick up a prescription.

    Wishing everyone a good day!

My goodness, I received three baby shower invites yesterday. One in CA for Sara, it's a boy.
Jill of the Halloween bridal shower,, it's a girl. And lastly, my deceased sisters' daughter (Jane), dear Sydney is having a girl. Sydney has decorated in teal and grey. Jill is all in pink. Sara is red, white and blue. I've got some web shopping to do. I like getting at least one pack of old fashioned unglamourous cloth nappies. They are good for so much more than a diaper. I buy clothes in 9-12 month range and include a favored children's book.

Happy Birthday to Starbucks Frappucino, twenty years old.

Supper is to be determined. I'm thinking maybe a meatloaf.

Happy day all. Killed the other thread

Hi, Tina! Wow on the cool baby shower gifts. Regular old cloth diapers are so much better than disposables, I totally agree! Pretty decorations! I love the gray and teal combinations.

Joce, the picture was so where alone I 44 in Missouri. Just looked pretty. Lasagna for supper would be great, I have no idea what I am going to make, but with GS here it is buyers for lunch, and pierogies (he loves them). The gardening and flower bed weeding is convincing him he would really rather live in condo with no yard work -- silly goose!

Janet, the bento box would be my choice.

Wayne is trying to do some work and Homer is distracting him. Dog will spend time outside if he doesn't settle down. GS just came in so I will go check on the burgers. This one finger typing on the iPad is getting much easier!

Morning! That's great that you are giving your GS some work to make some cash Karen. Beautiful picture of the sun beams through the clouds :)

Yum on your dinner Janet! I never think to start marinating something the night before. Wait, I'm never home the night before lol :P Yum on the stuffed mushrooms with boursin...I would be the only one eating those if I made them though. That menu looks amazing...I'll take a lobster crepe please!

Yum on lasagna, sounds like you have an easy delicious dinner ahead of you!! Good luck with the errands :)

Wow on all the baby shower invites Tina! That's so smart to buy 9 month clothes. When I had my garage sell I kept finding newborn and 0-3 month girl clothes with tags still on them! I had too much to even have her wear them all lol!

Yesterday was garden day! Michael tore all the winter plants out, picked 8 cabbages, tilled then layed the black paper down that prevents weeds. My job was the herb garden, tore out what was dead picked the weeds. It was a bigger job than it sounds lol. Went and bought everything for the Spring garden. We had found 5 tomato plants that had started to grow on their own in the fall garden so we set those aside and got those planted and in the ground. Also dug up some basil that had started growing in the corner of the garden and planted those in a better spot. LOVE when plants grow on their own..saves us money!! I took Caiden to practice last night and Bri had yet another game (make ups for being rained out so much) that Michael took her too. They won 9-2...Bri got a run, and I was told she slid into home :)

Going to go to the grocery store today, we are in desperate need of things. Then I am going to come home and get all these plants in the ground...should take a while, there are a ton! Dinner will be Baked Fish Tacos With Lime Cilantro Slaw I'm going to use the tile fish we were talking about in the IMI... and try and use up my mass amount of cabbage lol. Nothing going on this evening so Bri and I are going to knock out an episode of Once Upon A Time and Dance Moms. She'll be happy to have a night off :) Hope everyone has a nice day!!

I'd love lasagna for dinner Joce. Sounds delicious. At least it feels warmer out there now than it has for a while. When I came home Jim was out chopping channels in the ice and snow to let the water run away from both the lane way and my bird feeders. In some areas the rocks are showing through but in our backyard, where we shovelled off our deck...there is still a MOUNTAIN of snow!
Great ideas for baby shower gifts Tina. I had so much fun recently when I went to buy a gift for my niece's baby. It'd been a long time since I was in that part of a store. :) Cool on the Frappucino. I've had one of those bottles you can buy in the grocery store but never ordered one at Starbucks. Your grandson's comments about preferring to live in a condo remind me of when Benjamin was a teen and after having to mow our lawns he too declared that when he grew up and had a home of his own that he would just let it grow naturally (which he pointed out was a lot more environmentally friendly as well) and never mow. Now of course he's moved away and lives in the middle of a big city so I guess he got his wish of no lawn.
I'm living vicariously through your descriptions of gardening day Michelle! Picked 8 cabbages! What will you do with them apart from slaw? I love going shopping for plants. Fun fun that some things came up on their own. Congrats to Bri for the win! Yum on your dinner. Sounds awesome.
I had a lovely day. Good visit with my girlfriend over tea. She showed me a photo album of three trips they'd done to Charleston, SC. Looks beautiful. So many different types of flowers than we get here. Then to lunch with my other girlfriend and I did end up going with the Bento box with Teriyaki beef. (My fave part was the kimchi) She got the Steak and Mushroom crepe with a caesar salad. Didn't get home 'til 3. Lots of chatting. :)
Plus while I was out the Dr.'s office called and said they had the results of my biopsy of my mouth. I have an appointment the beginning of April but they said it was nothing serious and I didn't have to worry. So that's a load off. :)
Must go prep the slaw and then I think a hot tub might be in order.

GS is still working with his Grandpa to assist and point out "improvements" - ha ha! He is a good kid and will work hard, esp. if money is involved.

Busy day for Briauana, Michelle. I have not done much for gardening - still too early here. It won't be a real garden, probably some container gardening to start, and Wayne is considering a small greenhouse if we find one we both like.

    Enjoy your hot tub, Janet.

I would go snap some photos of GS working but when I transferred pix to the computer, batteries came out and I am too disgusted to put them back yet. Maybe ham for supper, I have some easy baked ham recipes and will only use part of the ham for that tonight.

It is a beautiful day and supposed to be cold tonight so we will only have one or maybe two fires before it is too warm for the wood stove. GS was suitable impressed with how it looked. I sorted through 200 plus cookbooks and have about 3 bags full ready to re-check for papers, recipes, etc. that I might have left inside, then will give them to our daughter to either keep or give to the Friends of the Library to sell.

Best go check on the guys. See you.

That's nice you had a good day with your Grandson Karen. Love ham! Wow on the 200 cookbooks. Love your avatar. I have started a list of things I want to plant this year and on it is a couple of edible flowers. I think they are so cool to use in salads and to garnish a plate.
Hot tub was great. Did do the Boursin mushrooms. Just popped them in the oven. Slaw is made and it's GAME ON in an hour. Have a great night everyone.
    Sleep sweet Kimmer.
