Baked Fish Tacos with Lime Cilantro Slaw

A recipe from Krumkake Baked Fish Tacos With Lime Cilantro Slaw

This was absolutely delicious! All of the wonderful spices added a ton of flavor:) I used cod fillets and baked approximately 15 minutes (keep an eye on the fish while baking, it depends on how thick your fillets are) I also used 2 cups of bagged coleslaw mix and grilled the corn tortillas on the BBQ:) My DH topped his tacos with his favorite Habanero hot sauce (I know, hot!). He LOVED these tacos, that made my day:) I did make the slaw a few hours before dinner, that made it a snap when it was time to eat:) Thank you Krumkake, I'll be making this again & again!

    12/31/2014 Happy New Year:)

Wow Marie, these look fabulous, and look, I even have them saved already :) The spice rub looks like it made a nice crust, I was almost expecting to see bread crumbs or something in the ingredients from the look of your picture, which is yummy looking btw! I always make coleslaw ahead of time, I think it taste better. Great post!!

Michelle, thank you:) The ends of the fillets did have a nice crust, but the center really didn't..I was wondering if spraying the fish with oil might help to get more of a crust on the whole fillet? It was great no matter:) I saw you had it bookmarked and wanted to let you know this was the fish taco recipe I wound up making:) And I totally agree on making the coleslaw ahead of time, the flavors meld so nicely together!

Thank you for reviewing this and adding it to IMI group, Marie - we do love these tacos, and your picture is great! I think if you wanted to add some crunch, you could easily sprinkle the tops of the fish with some panko crumbs and drizzle just a BIT of melted butter over the crumbs before baking (or spray with some cooking spray)! I'm so glad you and your husband liked these!!

Thanks for stopping by the IMI Krumkake!! I have some white fish in my freezer that my dad gave me called "Tile Fish". Anyone heard of it and know if it would be good done up in tacos? I may just go ahead and Google it to find out :)

I've never heard of tilefish. Had to Google it. I couldn't find what it could compare to (as in other fishes) from what I read.

    Taken from fishwatch.gov:

Tilefish is a mild-tasting white fish harvested from southern New England to the Gulf of Mexico. The saying “you are what you eat” rings true for this fish – they mainly feed on crustaceans such as shrimp and crabs, and people often describe the tilefish’s sweet flavor as similar to crab or lobster.

It probably would be good in tacos since it dines on shrimp.

You are so welcome Krumcake:) We loved this fish taco recipe..which reminds me, I need to make it again real soon:)

I have never heard of Tilefish! Very interesting info Points..I'm pretty sure we won't find any Tilefish here in these parts:(

You might be surprised. It is grouped with white fish. There are several varieties of non-descript fish sold at the market under the monicker of white fish. It is also from what imitation crab is made.

Awesome thanks PSO! I didn't get around to Googling it, so glad you did :) My dad just fried it up when I had it at his house so all you could taste was oil and breading, but I'm glad it will be good in fish tacos. Actually it sounds like frying it would be a waste, since it has a similar flavor to crab or lobster!

These are really good fish tacos! I did use my Tilefish and indeed it is a mild tasting fish, which I was hoping for :) The seasoning on the fish is great! I don't have garlic salt so I did garlic powder and the salt separate, which I eyeballed and could have used a tad more. Love the slaw...made it earlier in the day to let the flavors meld. Didn't serve with any extras, the slaw was enough for us :) Very good!

I'm so glad to hear another member enjoyed these tacos...I need to make them for us again! I do recall that the seasoning rub was what really kicked up the flavor of the fish, and I agree, mommylvs2cook, no other toppings are needed. The rub and slaw added all the flavor we wanted, at least!
