TOO much fun Tuesday!

Good Morning to you everyone and welcome to Tuesday! :)

I've had yet another great day. Jim and Benjamin accompanied me over to Benjamin's friend Felicita who owns a nearby restaurant and she gave Benj and I a lesson on how to make traditional Taiwanese dumplings. She was so kind and had a good sense of humour. She bought the ingredients, showed us how to do the whole thing from start to finish including a dipping sauce and then insisted on cleaning up afterwards as we wouldn't know where things belonged. LOL. She was great and I had SO much fun.

Home afterwards. Did a load of laundry and then headed out with Benj for a snack around 3 p.m. before he headed to work. We went to this neat little cafe for a cold drink. Benj and Jim had lemon tea and I had some sort of amazing grapefruit drink. It was delicious. Then we popped in to the Evening Market. Benjamin bought a tray of food to eat but Jim and I had had a small piece of my birthday cake earlier so we just got two little bun things with steamed carrots and cabbage in them served with a spicy sauce. SO yummy!

Popped in to the grocery store on the way home. I'll have dinner waiting for Benj when he gets home. Made
    Cocktail Meatballs
and I have mashed potatoes prepped. One of Benj's students brought him a large bag of cherry tomatoes yesterday that his parents had grown in their garden so I washed some of those up and cut up some carrots and that'll be our veg.

Tomorrow is our last day here. Goodness.

Two pics below from my dumpling making session. Felicita uses a big Chinese vegetable cleaver to do her chopping. It made such quick work of the entire head of cabbage in no time. It's a lot lighter than cleavers I've seen in Canada but perhaps I was looking at meat cleavers and not vegetable ones. I'd go buy one here but I'm a little nervous about getting it through customs in my suitcase. The other neat thing she had was a linen bag to squeeze the water out of the salted cabbage. I used to make Indian Pea and Potato pancakes a lot but I hated having to wring the grated potato out in a tea towel. It just made a big mess. The linen bag was excellent as she just wrapped the top tightly and started wringing away. She washes it out by hand and says that they generally last her for about two years. Once we were done there I walked over to the local hardware store and bought four!!! :) Plus a ginger grater exactly like hers. I didn't realize you could grate ginger without peeling it???? You learn something every day, I'll tell ya!!!!

    Have a great day everybody!!!!

    Good Morning Everyone!

The dumplings looks fantastic Janet! So sweet of Felicita to make such a fun day for you all. I hope customs doesn't confiscate your cleaver or think you are a "crazy hatchet woman". LOL!

We are getting a nice, much needed rain, finally.
Yesterday a tree trimming company that was hired to trim all the trees and palms was here trimming ... well ... they trampled 5 of my newly planted plants in the front garden bed and I was furious!! I thought it was our regular landscaping company that was trimming. They had just started as we were on our way out for something to eat. Come home to find a huge garbage can left in the garden bed and 5 plants ruined. I contacted our Association and Management company via email and just exploded! This morning the company was out again finishing the rest of our cul-du-sac and I seen the trucks so I called the number noted and supposedly the owner is sending a manager out to assess the damage. My next door neighbor is complaining about the same thing, ruined plants. The workers just trample thru like a herd of elephants. Anyhow ...

Not much planned today as it looks like a wet one so I'll get caught up with indoor chores. Not sure what I'm in the mood for for dinner just yet.

I'm gonna pass on the cleaver Linda. LOL. Not worth the the stress. Yay on the rain. Spring rain always makes the ground smell so good.OH NO on the tree trimmer guy tromping on your new plants. That's awful!!!! Awwww for your neighbour too. Shaking head.

Both Benjamin and Jim had two helpings of cocktail meatballs so I'm pleased. We're going to start watching a new series tonight "The Handmaid's Tale".

Jim bought our tickets for the HIgh speed rail from Kaosiung and Taoyan and also downloaded our boarding passes. I'm SO glad he does these things as they stress me out. :)

Do tell us Linda if anything more comes of that woman going into the woods. I'm simply curious. :)

Wow, what a fun day Janet!! That is so cool that Felicita taught you how to make dumplings as well as cleaned up! So now you know what Jim will be expecting you to make after you get home :) Yum on those meatballs, going on my list to make!

Yay on finally getting rain Linda! Ugh on your trampled plants Linda :( I would SO be complaining too! Good thing (well not really though) that your neighbors are complaining as well, so it's double the trouble :P I'm curious also about the woman in the woods!!

Well Bri's wart is a Plantars wart :( The pediatrician said she would call us with a referral to a podiatrist, but I am not trusting in them to call in a timely manner, so I called one myself this morning and scheduled and appt. The only thing is the lady on the phone said they would just burn it off, when the pediatrician said it needed to be cut out. So I will call the pediatrician this morning to get the "referral" faster and see what they say.

No plans on dinner yet, it will be something though! Have a great day everyone :)

After the tree trimming fiasco yesterday I just went off and reported everything to our Management Company, our Association President, and our Landscaping Company ... including the female using the woods for a bathroom, I was just that irritated with everything.
The landscaping company contacted me and it's not they who are trimming trees, it's another company. They also said "Their female employees know to use the rest rooms" and it was probably a woman from the tree trimming company, which it is not, it's one of theirs. I'm sure it was addressed with the staff and hoping it won't continue.

The tree trimming company owner called, sent out a manager, who then skirted the issue by saying "they don't look so bad" and I told him not acceptable, who do I send the bill to for replacement plants. He told me to call the owner again, which I did, who I have yet to hear from.
Have calls into our Management Company for support regarding it. Just Bulldung.

Planters warts usually need to be cut out to get the root. If they insist on burning Michelle I would ask them why and what are the probabilities of it coming back. Burning only goes so deep. The lady on the phone too may not know what she was talking about and making a general reference.

All seems to be resolved with the plant stuff. Our property manager finally reached out to me (he is off site today) and said they will not pay the Tree Trimming company until they make good with the damage done to my plants. I'm getting the receipts to him now. We are not talking big bucks here ... it's the principle of accountability and responsibility which lacks greatly in society these days. Enough said.

Howdy do to all of you!
Sounds like a lot of fun Janet. A cure for a plantars wart is to go to the beach. The saltwater will take it away. I had one of those before and it can get to be a pain. Ten more days until we head to the beach on a much needed vacation. Anyone ever hear of Mexico Beach, Florida? That's where we are headed. My husband & I haven't been on a trip for years ... but our daughter has traveled halfway around the world! She's staying home to take care of Wriggley. Here's the live Beach Cam for you all to see >>> http://mexicobeach.com/mexico-beach/beach-cam/
I'll be the crazy lady hula-hooping and waving furiously to the camera LOL

I'm totally going to make some homemade dumplings when I get back Michelle. They keep great in the freezer. Plus, the more I practice right after my 'lesson', the better my memory retention. :) I am feeling so bad for Bri. Is she super worried about the wart removal or is she handling it okay? Poor thing.

SO pleased to hear that your Property Management company is going to stand behind you Linda. Good job.

Hi Jett! I've never heard of Mexico Beach, Florida. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!!! I checked out the video link and it looks beautiful. Says there are sea turtles there which I'd love to check out and even armadillos!!!!! :)
