What's for dinner Wednesday?

Good Morning Everyone! It's a gorgeous morning on my end. Bright blue sunshiny sky. I am staining decks today and Jim is bringing the car over to the garage. We need a couple of new tires and I think he's getting an oil change and something about a bearing that needs replacing. :) Money pits....that's what cars are. :)

It gets light out SO early now!!! I woke up at 4:30 and it was starting to get light. We were up at about 6:50 this morning. The car appointment is for 9 a.m. so we have to eat breakfast sooner than we normally do.

Haven't decided on dinner plans yet. I need something yummy but easy since I'll be working outside most of the day.

So glad you had a great time out last night with your friends Kimmer. LOL that you already booked in for next month too!

    Wishing everyone a great day!

Morning Janet! I agree, cars are definitely $$ pits lol. Good luck with all that today. Let us know what you decide for dinner :)

We are going to be headed to the beach in a few hours. We were supposed to go yesterday but I noticed it was going to rain all day so we pushed it back to today. Well NOT one drop of rain yesterday and now 40% is in the forecast for today. We are going anyway, cause I can't trust a dang thing the weather channel says lol.

Santa Fe schools are closed until next Tuesday and the last day of school is supposed to be next Thursday the 31st. They are skipping their finals this year I guess since they were to be taking them this week. A lot of parents are saying they are not letting their kids go back at all until the schools get metal detectors put in. I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I may take the kids up to the schools for an hour or 2 on Thursday, the scheduled last day, and let them say goodbye's to their teachers and friends. That is what a lot of the parents are doing.

I have a lot of packing up to do before we head to Galveston! Oh, and I have to wake up 4 sleepy kids (Bri, Caiden and 2 of Bri's friends) that stayed up way to late last night lol. Have a great day everyone and cross you fingers for us that we don't get rained on!

Good Morning Michelle. Have a great time at the beach and I have my fingers crossed that you don't get rained on. Though I do remember being young and going swimming in the rain and it used to feel quite warm! :) Wow on the schools skipping their finals but I can totally see it. I think it's nice to let the kids say good-bye to their friends and teachers. The teachers must be pretty rattled too.

Made Jim and I scrambled eggs and toast for brekkie.

Jim sent me an article this past week that the CEO of Campbell's Soups is out. The article says that Campbell's is undergoing a strategic review as it tries to revive sales that have been under pressure due to shifting American tastes. Campbell's was founded a hundred and fifty years ago. That's a pretty good run! Because of new tariffs on imported steel and aluminum, Campbell's costs will rise. They are also dealing with declining sales because families are seeking foods they consider are healthier and less processed. They posted a third quarter loss of $393 million last Friday and expects their 2018 earnings to decline by 5 or 6%, greater than their projections earlier of a decline by 1-3%.

I grew up with Campbell's soups and I do admit I have a soft spot for them in my heart. Campbell's Bean with Bacon, Vegetable Beef with Barley, Cream of Mushroom and Tomato of course, and also their Chicken Noodle soup. However....for years now I have shuddered at their sodium content. Why do they have to keep it so high? They did offer some with a lower sodium I think? and I know for sure they did offer some reduced fat soups, but perhaps they missed the boat and didn't react soon enough to the market change. It'll be weird if they go under. That old red and white soup can holds a lot of good memories.

    Good morning Janet and Michelle.

Hope the deck work goes well, Janet. Wow on Campbell’s soups having troubles. I guess tastes have changed. The sodium content is ridiculous and I can’t tolerate the salty taste since lowering our sodium intake. I would think freeze drying would be a good option since people seem interested in that. I had tried other brands back when we used a lot of canned soups and found the quality better in Progresso....their chicken noodle soup actually had carrot chunks and a good amount of chicken instead of a few noodles and salty broth. But we don’t use soups as much as we used to.

Have a nice time at the beach, Michelle, and I hope you don’t get rained out. Hope the kids do adjust to the aftermath of the shooting. It must have been horrendous for those caught in the middle of it. An armed guard would help deter future incidents, I would think....more than a metal detector alone.

GS did not go to 4H. Turned out he had five teeth pulled! We picked up a chocolate shake at Sonic with instructions to use a spoon, not a straw....daughter was afraid that might dislodge the blood clots and lead to dry socket. He missed school but that was the last week so they were mainly watching movies anyhow....or so he said. They gave him the teeth to keep and he proudly showed them off.

No idea about supper....probably one of the Hello Fresh box meals.

Mauser discovered that the bedroom door squeaks when you push it open and it swings back. (A bit of leveling is needed for sure.) She sat at the end of the hall, pushed the door open and watched it close and listened to the hinges squeak. It lost its humor after the tenth creaking sound.

Nothing is going on today except his buddy is coming to work some more on the bathroom. And ever present laundry!

    Have a good day.

I don't think I've ever had Progresso soup Karen. I wonder if we can get it here in Canada? Oh goodness on your GS having five teeth out. That's a lot! Hope his mouth feels better today. LOL @ Mauser making the door squeak. LOL. Good luck with the laundry.

    Good Morning Everyone.

It's a beautiful start to the day here too. We had some rain yesterday but not as much as I thought we would get.
We have a pair of cardinals that have been hanging around and it's so much fun when they hang out in one of the bushes or palm that's in front of a window. Cardinals and Hummingbirds are my favorite wild birds!
Will go to the gym this afternoon and I need to stop in the grocery store because my list gets too long. Not sure what I'm in the mood to make for dinner tonight.

Sounds like you have a good day ahead of you to get your deck(s) stained Janet. Cars are THE worse money pits, they loose money the minute you drive them off the dealers lot. Do you have anything in the freezer that you can heat up for dinner?
Yikes on Campbell's financial future! I too grew up with Campbells but admit I haven't bought much of their products in years. They own so much more than soup and even those brands I admit to not buying often. Why? Just can't do the processed foods because of what they are made with.

Enjoy the beach Michelle. Is the water warm enough to go swimming? Bringing the kids in to school to say Good Bye to everyone would be nice and help with closure. Can't believe another school year came and went. Where does time go?

Glad you had a great time out last night Kimmer. I bet you were stuffed!

Nice on the cardinals Linda. I love them too. We often have a pair that eat at our feeders. I've heard the male in the woods but haven't seen them back getting seed since we returned from Taiwan. Have fun at the gym. That's a lot of companies Campbell's owns alright. Perhaps they diversified too much.

I have a ton of cooked chicken leftovers in the freezer. I always freeze whatever we don't finish up. Decided I'd like Hot chicken sandwiches for dinner tonight. Will have to make the gravy just from broth but hoping I can doctor it up enough that it'll be yummy.

I've cleaned up the kitchen and done dishes so no procrastinating any longer. The deck beckons. :)

I Googled "red birds" Karen to see what others there may be and there are some. The Tanagers look like they would be fun to have a round too.

I had some pork leftover from dinner recently so am cooking up 'Cubano's' in my panini grill for lunch. One of Benjamin's favourite sandwiches.

Not sure if I told you that I just saw my very first ever Scarlet Tanager the other day when Jim and I went to the Mill of Kintail. I saw a flash of red high up in a tree. Whispered loudly to Jim to look and then it came out so we got a good look at it and it then flew over our heads. I had honest to goodness goosebumps. What a stunning bird. Here I am 58 and I'd never seen one before. I googled them when I got home and they live in large tracts of forest so they're not often seen in neighbourhood's.

I've seen pine grosbeaks in the past but that and robins are about the only other of those red birds in the list that I've been lucky enough to see.

Oh my goodness! I've completed prepping and staining three out of the four decks. I left the biggest one for another day. Just popped a couple Tylenol Back pain pills. LOL. It looks SO much better and I took before and after pics so I would see what a good job I did. :)

The car cost us $700. Stupid cars. LOL.

Shower and then a hot tub are in order.

Good evening and hello to all. Late getting here so will have to catch up later. Had a late hair appointment that took a bit longer than normal. But feel so much better with a hair cut and fresh color! Found out my hairdresser is retiring in July. That's one thing that took a bit longer as we sat and talked for awhile. I have dreaded this moment for quite some time as I knew sooner or later as he is pushing 70 years of age........... I have been going to him for over 13 years now so we have shared many a happy moment and many a tear regarding life and families. But we made a pact to stay in touch. He had open heart surgery about 5 years ago and had been doing fine. But recently he has had some more heart problems and had a seizure last month. He is not even allowed to drive until June because of it. Even though he appears to be doing fine now. Funny how different people in your life become close to you. Anyway, he is the sweetest man and I wish him all the best. He just wants to enjoy the rest of his life spending time with his wife and family and FISH, lol. One thing that I always loved about him was he figured out how to get my "once" natural color that I had when I was much younger. He is a color specialist and very talented. My hair is very difficult to color. I've been known to come out either greenish or orange, lol. But if I would let it grow out to the color that it has become now I WOULD HATE IT, lol. Mousy color is all I can think of to describe it, lol. Well enough of that.

Since later getting home than I anticipated I stopped at Publix and bought rotisserie chicken and some micro mac and cheese. Worked out ok.

Hope all enjoy the rest of the evening. And Sleep "well hair colored" Sweet..........as always.......................
