How to make it

  • Combine the Cider vinegar, the black pepper, the salt, the sugar, the chili powder, the dry mustard, the paprika, and the ground cumin up in a bowl or pot.
  • Stir up all of the spices with a spoon.
  • Put all the ingredients into a pot that is safe for the stove.
  • Cook for 5-10 minutes to make sure that you dissolve all of the spices.
  • Use the marinade and the basting with your favorite BBQ
  • You can put this on your favorite steak, chicken or whatever else you like to have BBQ sauce on

    Wickers is intended to be used as a marinade and basting sauce, and maybe as a finishing sauce, but not as a table sauce. Its great for ribs! Also good for chicken and pork but I adjust the ingredients for both for best results. While this recipe is close, Wickers original recipe was adjusted after they were bought out. Originally, it was spicier so its been toned down a bit. I bought the Wickers Recipe Book over 20 years ago and it included a recipe for using Wickers as an ingredient to create a pretty darn good table sauce.

    I usually like Carolina-style sauce. But you'd better absolutely LOVE the taste of vinegar or you won't like this. We tried it last night. So tart that we couldn't use it as-is. We mixed it 50:50 with some Stubb's, and it was OK that way. But still kinda weird.
