Spicy Beef Patties

- 1 lb. ground beef shopping list
- 1 medium onion, finely diced shopping list
- 1 tbls. minced garlic shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. smoked paprika shopping list
- 1 tsp. dried thyme shopping list
- 1 tsp. coarse ground black pepper shopping list
- 1 tbls. salt shopping list
- 1 jalapeno, finely diced shopping list
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs shopping list
- 1/2 cup beef broth shopping list
- 1 beaten egg shopping list
- 1 tsp. curry powder shopping list
- 1 tbls. water shopping list
- 2 packages pre made pie crust shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 400
- Brown ground beef in large saute pan over medium heat
- Add onion, garlic, paprika, thyme, black pepper, and salt
- Stir together, and then add jalapeno
- Remove from heat, and add the bread crumbs and the beef broth
- Stir well to combine and set aside to cool completely.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the egg, curry powder and water. Set aside.
- On a work surface, flatten the pie crusts and cut out 3-inch rounds using a cookie cutter
- Add a hearty tablespoon of the beef mixture onto each round
- Fold over and press the edges with your fingers
- Crimp the edges with a fork
- Transfer the patties to a baking sheet and brush the tops with the egg mixture
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes
- Note:....The changes I made were
- 1. Didn't use pie crust, I used frozen empanada dough
- 2. Didn't use thyme
- 3 Added some salsa to the mix
- 4. Added cheddar cheese to the pie before sealing
- 5. Didn't use curry powder in the egg wash...Used Cayenne pepper

Mmmm... Wynne, these sound good! I like your changes/adds too. I've never seen empanada dough, but I'm going to the store today. I attempted empanadas a couple weeks ago and they said use pie dough. Didn't really care for the heaviness - threw ou...more

great post... I will leave the curry powder out also... personal preference... and love the added cheese and salsa... will use pie crust because they don't have a Gluten free empanada dough yet... fove forks... nice photo of Big Daddy..
