In my home, it isn't Christmas without Snickerdoodles! Our family favorite for generations. Keep frozen dough balls in a freezer container for quick fix.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 c. butter, softened
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1-1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2-1/4 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • ________________
  • 2 T. sugar
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon

Directions
  1. Heat oven to 400-degrees.
  2. Mix thoroughly butter, shortening, 1-1/2 c. sugar, and the eggs.
  3. Blend in flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, salt and nutmeg.
  4. Chill dough if too soft. Shape dough by rounded teaspoonfuls into balls.
  5. Mix the 2 T. sugar and 2 tsp. cinnamon together. Roll balls in cinnamon-sugar mixture. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet. (Can be frozen for later baking at this time.)
  6. Bake 10 to 12 minutes until lightly golden brown.
  7. Immediately remove from baking sheet and cool on wire racks.
