Ingredients

How to make it

  • Cream together butter, white sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla.
  • Add in eggs and applesauce until blended.
  • Mix in Cinnamon, Clove, salt and baking soda.
  • Add flour until blended, then oats.
  • When this is all mixed, add pecans and chocolate chips.
  • Drop by the spoonful onto ungreased cookie sheets and bake at 375 F for 15 minutes.
  • GENTLY remove cookies from cookie sheets onto a rack and allow to cool for at -least- five minutes. I'm serious. I mean it. You let them cool! Arm yourself with a wooden spoon.... you might need to threaten family members, significant others, room mates and random innocent people just passing by who lose all sense of self control near these cookies.
  • Don't say I didnt warn you.

heheh I'm glad I am not alone in this strange baking phenomena! One thing that helps me is I try to triple check the amounts I am using. *cough* I might have once, sort of, maybe, kinda tripled the butter by accident in one very awry cookie disaster. Now I get a little OCD over double checking everything I put into the mix.

My son loves oatmeal cookies and anything evil. Will try this tomorrow, but like you and your cakes, my cookies are either brilliant or they fall just short of disaster.:)

Thanks! While you are still using a stick of butter, applesauce really works well in these. They come out slightly puffed up and cake like with crisp edges. You want these to be quite browned before pulling them from the oven... I'll get my camera and try to get a decent picture up tonight :)

Love the applesauce instead of butter or oil! Can't wait to make these and love the name!
