Very Dairy Strawberry Shortcake Dip

- For dip shopping list
- · 1 package (2 ounces) cream cheese shopping list
- · 1 tbs. powdered sugar shopping list
- · 1 1/2 tbs. strawberry jam (divided) shopping list
- · 2 tbs. milk shopping list
- · 1 carton (4 ounces) heavy whipping cream shopping list
- For shortcakes shopping list
- · 1 ¼ cups flour shopping list
- · 1 ¾ tsp. baking powder shopping list
- · ½ tsp. salt shopping list
- · 1/8 cup sugar shopping list
- · ¼ cup shortening shopping list
- · 1 egg yolk shopping list
- · ½ cup buttermilk shopping list
- · ½ pound strawberries, cleaned and cut into ½ inch slices shopping list
- · 12 toothpicks shopping list
How to make it
- For dip, in medium mixing bowl, cream together cream cheese, powdered sugar, 1/2 tbs. strawberry jam, and milk.
- In another bowl whip cream.
- Fold the cream into the cream cheese mixture.
- Chill.
- Swirl remaining jam into dip before serving.
- For shortcakes, in a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
- Cut in shortening until crumbly.
- In a small bowl, beat together the egg and buttermilk.
- Stir into flour mixture just until moistened.
- Turn out onto a floured surface;
- knead 3-4 times.
- Roll to 1/2-inch thickness;
- cut with a 1 inch shaped biscuit cutters.
- Place on prepared baking sheet.
- Bake shortcakes in preheated oven until golden brown, about 10 to 15 minutes.
- Allow to cool completely;
- cut the biscuit in half
- put half onto a toothpick, than put one strawberry piece, than one more biscuit half.
- Serve with the dip.
