Ingredients
  • · 1 3-pound beef brisket, trimmed
  • · 1 1/2 teaspoons coarse salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion (about 1 1/2 cups), coarsely chopped
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1/2 cup dark beer (such as porter or stout)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 8 kaiser (or other sandwich) rolls

Directions
  1. Season the brisket with salt and pepper. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the brisket, brown on all sides, and transfer to a slow cooker. Add the remaining ingredients to the slow cooker and stir well.
  3. Slow-cook, covered, until the meat is very tender — 8 hours. Remove the meat, place it on a cutting board, and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  4. Reserve the sauce. Carve brisket into thin slices and divide it among kaiser rolls topped with reserved sauce.
  5. Serve warm.

You did the Texan version -- I did the Jewish mother version. Bet they're both really satisfying. :-)

I looked at your brisket version, and it did look good. I'll try yours sometime, I'd give me another excuse to eat brisket, and I love it!!

That has my mouth watering for a hot brisket sandwich - thanks for sharing your recipe!

Being a Texas girl myself, I recognize a good brisket recipe when I see one. This is awesome. Great post and I too am ready for a brisket sandwich. I'll put the brisket on now and ya'll come over in about 8 hours. LOL

I made a similar recipe a few years ago and everyone loved it. Then I lost the recipe. I'm glad you posted this, it's going to be Easter Sunday diner at our house.
