Apple Butter Barbecue Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

2 Tbs butter

3/4 cup onions sliced

3 cloves garlic chopped

1/2 cup cider vinegar

1 cup apple cider or apple juice

1 /3 cup brown sugar

1 1/2 cups apple butter

2 tbs ketsup

2 tbs molasses

1 tsp ground corriander

pinch of cloves or allspice

fresh ground pepper and salt to taste

Directions

Melt butter

Saute onions and then add garlic to relases flavor

Add remaining ingredients

bring to a boil

Simmer about 1 hour

Use on any grilled ribs, poultry or meat or as desired

Makes about 3 cups

Some asked me about it being a butter. This is not a butter type dairy product. Apple butter, mostly apples cooked down slowly with sugar and spices etc for a thick spreadable mixture! I beleive it's called "butter" due to its spreadability. Some recipes may include margarine or butter as an ingredient in some recipes
