Ingredients
  • 1 Cup sugar
  • 1/2 Cup water, prefer spring
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 pints or 6 cups fresh picked blueberries, rinsed and patted dry
  • 1/4 lemon juice

Directions
  1. In a medium saucepan over med high heat, combine the sugar, water and salt. Cook, stirring, until sugar and salt have dissoved, about 3 minutes. Let cool for 15 minutes. In a blender or food processor, puree the berries with the syrup and lemon juice until very smooth. You'll still be able to see pieces of berry skins .
  2. Churn in ice cream maker or I use a Cuisinart counter top maker that takes about 25 minutes. Pack into container to freeze. Served this July 4th and got great reviews!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds light, creamy and refreshing. Thanks for the great post.

That sounds wonderful, especially now when our blueberries are coming into the fresh markets. I've been looking at that Cuisinart countertop ice cream/yogurt/sorbet/sherbet maker - now you've enticed me even more...

Yummmy!!!!!!

This will make a change from homemade ice cream - hope to try this coming week.
