- 1 c. white cornmeal shopping list
- 1/4 c. flour shopping list
- 1 t. baking powder shopping list
- 1/2 t. salt shopping list
- 1 egg, beaten shopping list
- 1/2 c. milk shopping list
- 4 T. butter or bacon drippings shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 425.
- Put butter or drippings in a cast iron skillet and put in the hot oven.
- Mix the dry ingredients. Blend in the milk and egg. Remove the cast iron skillet from the oven, swirl it to coat the sides, then pour the excess into the batter and blend.
- Pour batter into the skillet, and bake for 25-30 minutes, until the top is a deep golden brown.
