Sopaipillas Recipe
In high shcool, way back when, I first tasted this. They are soooo easy to make and so good. Your dipping sauces are all up to you...honey butter, choc, straw., etc.

Ingredients
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoons shortening
  • 1 cup purified warm water
  • vegetable oil for frying
  • 10x sugar

Directions
  1. In a bowl, stir flowr, baking powder and salt together.
  2. Cut in shortening
  3. Work in warm water
  4. Turn dough lightly onto floured surface.
  5. Cover with a damp cloth.
  6. Let sit one hour.
  7. Divide dough into 2 equal pieces.
  8. Roll out to 1/2" to 3/4" thick .
  9. Cut 2" to 4" long strips of dough.
  10. Fry strips in 1-1/2" of 425 degree oil, turning once unitl both sides are lightly browned.
  11. Drain on paper towels.
  12. Dust with 10x sugar
  13. For dipping use honey butter, melted chocolate, warmed strawberry jam, or caramel.
  14. TO DIE FOR!!!!
