Santas Bag of Coals
From snowcat17 15 years agoIngredients
- One box fudge brownie mix shopping list
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract shopping list
- 1 tsp. almond extract shopping list
- 1/2 c. walnuts (crushed) shopping list
- 4 bars of dark chocolate shopping list
- 1tbsp. butter shopping list
- 1/2 c. powdered sugar (To resemble Snow) shopping list
How to make it
- Make brownie batter according to pkg. directions
- Add the extracts and walnuts
- stir, until chunky
- In a double boiler add butter and chopped pieces of the chocolate bars
- stir until smooth
- taking a tablespoon, drop batter onto a lightly greased ( I use baker's joy)
- 9x13 sheetpan
- bake in oven at 350 degrees until inserted toothpick comes clean
- Let cookies cool on wire rack (about an hour)
- When cooled, gently dip each cookie in candy
- place each cookie on plate lined with waxed paper put in frig until candy is hardened.
- I serve these on a 'turkey platter dusted with the powdered sugar to look like fallen snow and place cookies loosely around each other
- Also, makes a great gift!
- For Gift-giving:
- place colored plastic wrap in a cookie tin
- lightly dust the cookies with the powdered sugar
- wrap a pretty ribbon onto cookie tin
- SPECIAL NOTES:
- I did forget how much this made, I think three dozen?
- but it is at the baker's discretion how much he/she uses
- If you don'have a double-boiler , any small saucepan will do I will add photo when I make these!in time for Christmas
