PEANUT MALLOW BARS

Big and little kids alike look forward to eating these snacks that have all the flavors of Payday candy bars. Adapted from Janice Huelsmann's recipe posted in the Taste of Home along with the photo.
Ingredients
- Ingredients; shopping list
- 1 package ( 18 ¼ -oz ) yellow cake mix shopping list
- 2 Tbs. water shopping list
- 1/3 cup butter, softened shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- 4 cups miniature marshmallows shopping list
- Peanut Topping: shopping list
- 1 package ( 10-oz ) peanut butter chips shopping list
- 2/3 cup light corn syrup shopping list
- ¼ cup butter, cubed shopping list
- 2 cups Kellogg s' Rice Krispies cereal shopping list
- 2 cups salted peanuts shopping list
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat at 350.
- In a large bowl, beat the cake mix, water, butter and egg until blended ( batter will be thick ). Spread into a greased 13-inch x 9-inch baking pan.
- Bake at 350 for 22 – 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Sprinkle with marshmallows. Bake 2 minutes longer or until marshmallows are melted. Place on a wire rack to cool.
- In a large saucepan, combine the peanut butter chips, corn syrup and butter; cook and stir over medium-low heat until smooth. Remove from the heat; stir in cereal, peanuts and vanilla. Spread over marshmallows. Cool completely. Yield: 2 ½ dozen.
