How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  • Grease and flour two 9" round cake pans. Set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, sift together flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Add sugar and whisk until combined.
  • Add eggs, coffee, buttermilk, vanilla, and oil.
  • Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  • Pour batter into prepared cake pans.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until inserted toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool layers in pans for 10 minutes then turn out onto wire rack.
  • Cool completely.
  • Frosting:
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat butter and vanilla extract until creamy.
  • Add powdered sugar. Beat on low speed until combined.
  • Slowly add milk while beating until mixture reaches desired spreading consistency.
  • Turn mixer to high and whip frosting for two minutes.
  • Spread on cake layers.
  • Serve and enjoy!
