Mongolian Beef

- 6 tablespoons soy sauce, divided shopping list
- 4 tablespoons dry sherry or Chinese rive wine shopping list
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch shopping list
- 1 1/2 pound flank steak, thinly sliced across the grain into long strips shopping list
- 4 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided shopping list
- 4 tablespoons minced garlic shopping list
- 2 tablespoons dried red chili flakes or to taste shopping list
- 12 green onions, sliced on an angle into 3-inch pieces shopping list
- 4 tablespoons hoisin sauce shopping list
- Hot cooked jasmine rice shopping list
How to make it
- Combine 4 tablespoons soy sauce, Sherry and cornstarch in a bowl large enough to hold the beef
- Add sliced beef and stir to coat
- Let stand 10 minutes at room temperature
- Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until hot
- Add 3 tablespoon oil, swirling to coat the pan,add beef, including all of the marinade, and stir fry about 2 minutes
- Remove beef from skillet
- Add remaining 1 tablespoon oil to skillet
- Add garlic and chili flakes
- Cook, stirring, for about 10 seconds
- Add green onions and stir fry for 1 minute
- Return meat and any juices to skillet
- Add hoisin sauce and remaining 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- Cook just until heated through
- Serve over Jasmine Rice
