Apple Buttermilk Loaf

- 1 cup whole wheat flour shopping list
- 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour shopping list
- 1/2 cup natural bran cereal shopping list
- 1 tsp. baking soda shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder shopping list
- 1/4 tsp. ground ginger shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon shopping list
- 1-1/3 cups buttermilk shopping list
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar shopping list
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil shopping list
- 1 large egg shopping list
- 1 tsp. grated orange zest shopping list
- 2(small) Golden Delicious or Royal gala apples, peeled, cored and chopped shopping list
How to make it
- Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Grease a 9 by 5 inch loaf baking dish.
- In a medium bowl, combine whole wheat and all-purpose flour, bran cereal, baking soda, baking powder, and ginger.
- In a large bowl, beat buttermilk, sugar, vegetable oil, egg, and orange zest.
- Add flour blend to buttermilk mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Fold in apples.
- Spread batter in a prepared pan and bake for 45 to 50 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
- Cool loaf in pan 10 minutes.
- Cool completely before serving.
