Beef And Cabbage Soup Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 lb. of ground beef
  • 1/2 chopped large onion
  • 5 c. of chopped cabbage
  • 2 (16 oz.) cans of red kidney beans, drained
  • 2 c. of water
  • 24 oz. of tomato sauce
  • 4 beef bouillon cubes
  • 2 tbsp. of vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp. of ground cumin
  • 1 tsp. of salt
  • 1 tsp. of pepper

Directions
  1. First you want to heat some olive oil in a pot over medium flame.
  2. Then you can saute your beef and onion.(let this cook until done)
  3. Next drain off fat.
  4. Then you can pour beef mixture into a crock pot.
  5. Then add in the cabbage, kidney beans, water, tomato sauce, bouillon, cumin, salt and pepper.
  6. Cover this and cook on high for approx. 4 hrs.
  7. Stir occassionally and Enjoy!

We really enjoyed this. It reminded us of a light chili, so I shredded some cheese on top, and we ate it up!


I made this and instead of tomato sauce I put a can of vegetable juice in and it was the boys had 2 bowls each so I know it was good. I love soup so this is a keeper.


Whoa- this is great! I made it with diced tomatoes and beef cubes instead. Delicious! I never use that much pepper, but might start!


This sounds great. I'll have to add a little chile pepper but this really sounds exactly like what I am looking for.

Alterations


I added a teaspoon of turmeric to this recipe. It gives it a yellow hue and I think it complements the cumin. (Not to mention it has anti-inflammatory benefits.)
