Simply Quiche Lorraine

- 1 nine inch prepared pie crust. shopping list
- 12 slices of bacon fried crisp, drained and crumbled. shopping list
- 1 cup shredded swiss cheese. shopping list
- 1/3 cup finely chopped onion. shopping list
- 4 eggs shopping list
- 2 cups half and half shopping list
- 3/4 tsp salt shopping list
- 1/4 tsp pepper shopping list
- 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper (optional) shopping list
How to make it
- OK, so I cheat a little here and there. I use a store bought piecrust. I was never good at those.
- Fry the bacon up crisp, remove from skillet, drain on paper towel. See Photo
- Beat the eggs slightly in a small bowl.
- Whisk in the remaining ingredients except the chopped onion.
- Line the bottom of the piecrust with the crumbled bacon. See Photo
- Layer the chopped onion on top of the bacon.
- Then add a layer of shredded cheese. See Photo
- Pour the egg mixture over the top of the other ingredients.
- Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Cover the edge of the piecrust with foil.
- Place the pie in the oven and cook uncovered for 15 minutes.
- Reduce the oven temperature to 300 degrees F. Continue to bake for about 30 minutes or until a knife inserted half way between the edge and the center comes out clean.
- Let stand for 10 minutes, cut and serve hot.
