Asian Lettuce Wraps

- 4 cups water shopping list
- 2 cups uncooked rice (brown or white) shopping list
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil shopping list
- 1 pound of ground pork, beef, chicken or turkey, whatever you like shopping list
- 1 bunch green onions, thinly sliced shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic (or more) shopping list
- 2 carrots, shredded shopping list
- 6 tablespoons hoisin sauce shopping list
- 4 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce shopping list
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil shopping list
- 3 tablespoons hot chili sauce shopping list
- 1 head of butter or bibb lettuce(doesn't tare as easily as iceberg) shopping list
How to make it
- In a succepan combine water and rice
- Bring to a boil, cover, and reduce heat to a simmer
- Simmer for about 20 minutes, until water is absorbed
- Set aside and keep warm
- Heat oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat
- Cook the ground meat, green onions,and garlic for 5-7 minutes until meat is browned
- Add the carrot, Hoisin and soy sauce, stirring frequently until heated through
- Remove from heat and stir in sesame oil and chili sauce
- To serve: add rice to stir fry mixture and place on leaves of the lettuce and wrap up to enclose the filling
- Let everyone wrap their own and serve with your favorite Asian dipping sauce
