Samoan Minced Steak
From elgourmand 14 years agoIngredients
- • 500g (1lb) minced beef. Your choice of which part of the beast you get this from. shopping list
- • 1 egg, beaten. shopping list
- • 1 slice stale bread, torn into small pieces. Fresh bread works just as well but all the class acts say “stale” bread so now you have to make stale bread. shopping list
- • Scant ¼ cup (80g) black olives, chopped; to taste. shopping list
- • Scant ¼ cup (80g) fresh mushrooms. Thin sliced; to taste. shopping list
- • ½ stalk celery, tough strings removed, chopped fine. shopping list
- • ½ tsp paprika. shopping list
- • 1 tiny pinch nutmeg. Really make this small or it will bite you. shopping list
- • 1 pinch italian seasoning, to taste. shopping list
- • 1 small clove garlic, finally diced. shopping list
How to make it
- 1. In a medium mixing bowl beat the egg and then add all the other stuff.
- 2. Mix this really good, I use my hands; please wash first.
- 3. Mold into patties of a size that suits you.
- 4. Cook to the desired doneness.
- I often do these on the Barbi (charcoal grill). An open fire just improves them. Love that smoky flavor.
- I made these a few days ago and for some wired reason (crazy is in charge here) “Carpet Bag” stakes came to mind. If you don’t know what “Carpet Bag” steaks are you never kissed an Aussie. Leave a message and I’ll post something. Anyhow, I had some nice looking frozen oysters in the freezer so I thawed them out and put two in the middle of each Pattie. By the gods, I would love to be able to get Chesapeake Bay oysters to do this with. Aussie oysters are very nice but the world holds its breath when Chesapeake Bay oysters are on the menu. Enjoy YOUR creation.
