- I always buy bags of frozen chopped spinach. You can saute it with the seasonings, and have very little, if any liquid to drain. I like to saute with some onion and red pepper, both chopped fine, as well as a heaping tablespoon of minced or chopped garlic. I like this better than the onion and garlic powder, however, those are good options that are quicker. I almost always add a squeeze of fresh lemon and a dash of worcestershire to anything using spinach. I usually add chopped fresh fried bacon instead of bacon bits. Just wanted to post the original recipe as given to me by a friend for foodies who prefer the easier methods. shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- Mix the cream cheese, spinach, milk, and spices [include bacon bits, if desired] in a small, bowl.
- When seasoned to taste, add egg and stir until well mixed.
- Cover, and refrigerate while working with the dough.
- Open the first tube of dough and unroll.
- There should be 4 rectangles, each sliced down one diagonal.
- For each of these 4 rectangles, slice from corner to corner, and across from edge to edge: / \ | . This will result in a total of 32 per package of crescent rolls.
- Place 1/2 tsp. of the spinach mixture onto each of the small triangles, pull one point of the triangle over the mixture, and tuck under the bottom on the opposite side.
- Place triangles onto a non-stick cookie sheet, and bake for 10 min. or until tops are golden.
- Remove from oven, and allow to cool 2-3 min.

I made these for a fun appy to have before dinner one night, and they went over so well! As long as you keep the dough neat and don't stretch it, these are easy to make and can be thrown together pretty fast :) Thanks Sparow!!! Added a full review...more
