Ingredients

How to make it

  • drain tuna and scoop into a large bowl
  • chop celery and pickles and place in bowl
  • add mayonnaise and celery and stir thoroughly
  • If tuna seems dry, add additional mayonnaise, lemon juice, or pickle juice to taste
  • Toast bread if desired, and scoop a generous helping of tuna salad and spread
  • Add lettuce or tomato if desired
  • Garnish with potato salad or potato chips
  • Enjoy!

    You're right, this is the classic recipe. Some use sweet pickle relish for the convenience, but either way this is good. It's the exact recipe we used at the restaurant. Quick, easy. Prechill all ingredients before you make it. In the deep South, Blue Plate is the mayo of choice. The tuna in the foil packs is dryer, but has a better flavor than the cans. Good stuff.
