Ingredients

How to make it

  • Place pork shoulder into slow cooker
  • Pour vinegar over meat
  • Season with salt and pepper
  • Cover and cook on High for 6 -8 hours
  • Remove pork from cooker and discard bone
  • Reserve 2 cups of liquid
  • Using 2 forks, shred pork
  • Add brown sugar, hot sauce and red pepper flakes to reserved liquid
  • Combine spices and liquid to ensure brown sugar is dissolved
  • Return meat to slow cooker
  • Stir to combine liquid with meat
  • Cover and continue to cook on High 1 hour
  • Reduce heat to low for serving

    Of course, I had to serve it with good ole Southern staples; cole slaw, baked beans and hush puppies. Oh yeah, iced tea, of course! Take me home, country road!!
