Sweet and Sour Chicken

- 2/3 cup soy sauce shopping list
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic shopping list
- 1 1/2 tablespoons grated ginger shopping list
- 1 cup flour, divided shopping list
- 1/4 cup cornstarch shopping list
- 1 1/2 pounds chicken breast, cut into bite size pieces shopping list
- 2 tablespoons poultry seasoning shopping list
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt shopping list
- 2 teaspoons pepper shopping list
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil shopping list
- 1 cup ketchup shopping list
- 1/4 cup sugar shopping list
- 1/4 cup red wine vinegar shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce shopping list
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil shopping list
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil shopping list
- 1 large onion, diced into 1 inch pieces shopping list
- 1 cup celery, diced into 1 inch pieces shopping list
- 2 cups baby carrots shopping list
- 1 large red bell pepper, diced into 1 inch pieces shopping list
- 1 large green bell pepper, diced into 1 inch pieces shopping list
- 1 cup fresh pineapple, diced into 1 inch pieces shopping list
How to make it
- In a large bowl, combine soy, garlic, ginger, 1/4 cup of flour, and cornstarch.
- Season the chicken with salt and pepper.
- Place the chicken in the bowl and mix well.
- Cover the bowl and let marinate for at least 4 hours, the longer the better.
- In a bowl combine the remaining flour, salt, pepper, and poultry seasoning.
- Remove the chicken from the bowl and coat in the flour mixture.
- In a pan over medium high heat add 1/2 cup vegetable oil.
- Fry the chicken in batches, until golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels and set aside.
- In a separate bowl, combine the ketchup, hot sauce, sugar, vinegar.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add the vegetable and sesame oils.
- Place the chicken and vegetables into the pan and cover with the ketchup mixture.
- Bring to a simmer and cook until the chicken is tender.
