Basil-Garlic Focaccia Bread

- 3/4 cup warm fat-free milk (70-80 degrees) shopping list
- 1/4 cup warm water (70-80 degrees) shopping list
- 1/4 cup soft butter shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- 2-3/4 cup flour shopping list
- 2 tbsp sugar shopping list
- 2 tsp kosher salt (divided) shopping list
- 2 tsp active dry yeast shopping list
- 4 tsp olive oil shopping list
- 1 tbsp garlic powder or 4 garlic cloves minced well shopping list
- 1 tbsp basil (or season of choice, rosemary, oregano, etc) shopping list
- 1 tbsp parmesan cheese shopping list
How to make it
- In bread maker (follow bread maker instructions on order of adding ingredients)
- Place milk, water, butter (cut up), egg, flour, sugar, 1 tsp salt and yeast (I also added 1 tsp garlic powder)
- Select dough setting
- Check after 5 minutes of mixing (I found the times I made this I added about 1 cup more of flour)
- When cycle is complete, turn dough onto lightly floured surface, and punch down
- Cover and let it rest for 10 to 30 minutes.
- Shape into circle or rectangle (do not make too thin),
- Place on a baking pan (lightly covered with olive oil) and cover
- Let is rise to doubled
- Using a wood spoon handle, make intentions about 1/4" indents in dough
- Brush with olive oil (4 tbsp)
- Mix salt, garlic, basil together and sprinkle over top of bread
- Sprinkle parmesan cheese over top (add more if you like)
- Bake 400 oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown, (if oven cooks quickly, watch, you do not want to burn or undercook)
- Cut into wedges or squares.

This recipe has problems. Nonetheless I was able to work around them and turn out a great tasting focaccia.
