Ingredients

1 lb potatoes, peeled

1 lb turnips (swedes)

1 tbs chopped chives

-or-

1small onion, chopped

1 to 2 tbs butter

salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Boil potatoes and turnips separately, drain very dry.

Mash them together while still hot.

Stir in remaining ingredients.

Season with salt and pepper.

If desired, add a sprinkle of nutmeg or mace.

Serve hot.
