How to make it

  • Crust:
  • Cream sugar and butter, add egg yolks, salt and sifted dry ingredients. Blend in vanilla.
  • Pat in bottom of a 9 x 9 inch pan.
  • Topping:
  • Beat egg whites until stiff; add brown sugar gradually.
  • Stir in vanilla, salt and nuts. Spread over first mixture in pan.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for about 25-28 minutes.
  • Cool and cut into squares.
  • Serve plain or with ice cream.
