This is a recipe I've been making a long time. It's great with Chili or hearty soups, and makes great sandwiches the next day!

Ingredients
  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 Tsp. baking powder
  • 1 T. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4. c. butter
  • 1/4 lb. sharp cheddar, grated (or combination of cheddar and parmesan cheeses)
  • 1 Tbsp. grated onion
  • 1 1/2 tsp. dill
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 1 egg

Directions
  1. Combine dry ingredients.
  2. Cut in butter till small pieces form.
  3. Fold in cheese
  4. Combine all wet ingredients, beat well.
  5. Fold into dry ingredients to form soft batter. Do not overmix.
  6. Pour into greased loaf pan
  7. Bake 40 - 45 minutes.
  8. Brush top with melted butter while hot.
  9. Let cool
