Chicken Paprikash

- 1 3 lb. chicken, cut into serving pieces shopping list
- salt and pepper shopping list
- 3 tbls. unsalted butter shopping list
- 1 cup thinly sliced onions shopping list
- 1 tbls. garlic, minced shopping list
- 1 tbls. smoked sweet paprika (or regular paprika, smoked hot paprika) I used smoked sweet paprika shopping list
- 1/2 cup chicken broth shopping list
- 1 cup sour cream shopping list
- 1 tbls. flour shopping list
- 1 lb. bag egg noodles shopping list
How to make it
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil.
- Season chicken pieces with salt and pepper
- Add 2 tbls. butter to heavy-bottomed skillet set over medium-high heat
- When butter begins to foam, add chicken pieces skin side down
- Cook until well browned, about 5 minutes
- Flip pieces and cook until well browned on the other side, about five more minutes
- Remove chicken and set aside
- Add onions and garlic to skillet
- Stir well, and cook until garlic is fragrant, about 30 seconds
- Sprinkle in paprika, and stir again
- Add broth, bring to boil, then reduce heat to medium, add chicken, cover pan and simmer until the chicken breasts are cooked, about ten minutes
- Set those aside and simmer another 5 minutes or so until dark meat is done
- Remove chicken and skim off excess fat
- Mix flour and sour cream together in mixing bowl
- Add to skillet and stir to combine
- Add chicken and simmer for about one minute
- Cook egg noodles in pot of boiling water, according to the directions on box.
- Drain, then toss with one tbls. butter
- Divide noodles between four plates
- Place a chicken piece on top of noodles and ladle sauce on top
