How to make it

  • Grease or butter pan of choice ( 9x 13, 8 x 12, muffins tins, spring form , cake layer pans, etc.
  • Combine the milk, melted margarine or oil and eggs
  • In a large bowl place all the dry ingredients
  • Beat both mixtures only until well combined
  • Place batter in the selected pan(s) of choice
  • Make crumbs:
  • Combine dry ingredients well
  • Mix in the melted margarine, butter or oil with finger tips to make coarse crumbs
  • Sprinkle crumbs thickly and evenly over the batter ( you may have extra crumbs and these freeze well if not used )
  • Sprinkle on fresh nutmeg
  • Place in middle oven rack
  • Bake 350F until tested done with a wooden toothpick, being careful not to over bake
  • Let cool on rack to warm
  • Yield of muffins depends on size of muffin cups etc.
