I live in Montana and it's cold! Could I let these freeze outside over night and then cut off the balloon?

though this is a fun and beautiful project, i would just like to warn people that if you put this on cobble stones on an outdoor porch, and they melt, the food colouring could leach into the porous stone and permanently dye it. i have tried it and it worked wonderfully, but i placed them on the grass.

    Fantastic.
You have out done yourself again as usual. Although it is simple it is artistic and sounds like fun for the Kids to make.
    You could use shaped balloons.
Hope all is well with you.

I won't get to make them, either, but they are pretty.... you could still freeze mini ones and use 'em in punch bowls or to add fun and color to an ice chest. :-)

What a great idea !!! I'm in Maine where winter is long...seems like it anyway...lol
I think I'm going to freeze them with strings frozen inside to hang them from our trees outside as ornaments !!!
    Thanks for sharing.
