How to make it

  • Combine flour, milk, baking powder, and salt in a very large bowl.
  • Cut in shortening until it resembles coarse cornmeal.
  • Store in tightly closed covered container in a coll place.
  • Males about 10 cups.

    Supplanted one cup flour with whole wheat flour and made half the recipe. Recipe is still a good one and a whole lot cheaper than Bisquick in a box.

    Just made a half dozen but added 1c sugar to your recipe. Mother is a sugarohaulic. My recipe is identical to yours. Lost my technique from not making the biscuits for a while. Added to much liquid and they spread more than they rose. Still a good flavor.

    Had to use butter and am keeping it in the fridge in an air-tight container. Couldn't find the shortening, but after I had the mix made, turned around, and there is the shortening, hiding in plain sight.
