Classic Macaroni And Cheese With A Twist Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 lb. elbow macaroni , Rotini or other medium pasta shape
  • 2 tablespoons margarine or butter
  • 6 tablespoons all- purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 1/2 cups grated Cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Directions
  1. Prepare pasta according to package instruction, drain and rinse under cold water and set aside
  2. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F
  3. In a medium saucepan,melt butter or margarine over low heat.
  4. Stir in flour with a whisk and cook,stirring for 1 minute.
  5. Gradually whisk in the milk and bring the sauce to a boil,stirring constantly.
  6. Remove from heat
  7. Add Cheddar cheese,cayenne pepper and salt.
  8. Stir until the cheese has melted.
  9. In large mixing bowl, stir the cheese sauce and pasta together.
  10. Spoon into a 1 1/2 quart oven proof casserole dish.
  11. Sprinkle Parmesean cheese over the top.
  12. Bake until browned on top and hot all the way through( about 35 min.)

This sounds good. I make mac and cheese I'll have to try it this way. I use graded cheese on almost everything.
