How to make it

  • In a food processor blend together the peppers, the bread crumbs, the walnuts, the garlic, the lemon juice, the pomegranate molasses, the cumin, the red pepper flakes, and salt to taste until the mixture is smooth and with the motor running add the oil gradually. Transfer the muhammara to a bowl and serve it at room temperature with pita chips.

    This is a great recipe. I am making it for Passover as we speak! I have to skip the bread and use Matzoh meal.

    Yes it is available in Middle-Estern grocery stores. I have never seen it anywhere else. Molasses will not do. Pomegranate molasses has this distinctive flavor that you cannot find nowhere. Thanks for visiting.

    Sounds like something I would definitely like - I'm not sure I've ever seen pomegranate molasses around here, though. Is that something that is typically available at a Middle-Eastern grocers? Or could I use regular molasses? I would love to try this.
