Ingredients

How to make it

  • Put peanuts in a large stock pot and cover with water. (they will kind of float on top) Add the salt
  • Bring the peanuts to a hard boil and cook for one hour. Keep adding water as needed
  • After one hour reduce the heat and slow boil them for 5 to 6 hours depending on how soft you want them. Check after 5 hours for softness. They are best, in my opinion, very soft.
  • DO NO LET THEM RUN OUT OF WATER
  • How to eat them:
  • Take a boiled peanut (with the shell still on) put it in your mouth and suck all the juice out. Crack the shell with your teeth to get to the peanuts. Eat the peanuts and throw the shell away. Or you can open the shells without sucking the juice out and eat the peanuts that way. They are always better warm. After they finish cooking on the stove I transfer them to a crock pot and keep them warm that way. Refrigerate any leftovers

I ate my first boiled peanut in Alabama but I got the best ones on the side of the road in GA between Austell and Douglasville. I make some in the crock pot every now and then so I don't have to watch them so closely. LOL I know without a doubt that these you posted are GREAT!!
