Hiyayakko is a very typical Japanese fresh soy dish which can be an appetizer, side or even main dish if more than one cube is used.

Ingredients
  • 1 2x2" block of fresh soft tofu (silken kind best)
  • Dab of prepared wasabi (in tube or bottle)
  • Dab of prepared ginger (in tube)
  • Half hand full of fish flakes
  • Half hand full of nori (dried laver seaweed), slivered
  • Large pinch of chopped green onion
  • Soy Sauce to taste

Directions
  1. Put the cold tofu in a bowl.
  2. Add wasabi and ginger on top.
  3. Sprinkle with remaining dry/fresh ingredients.
  4. Pour soy sauce over the top to taste at table.
