Ingredients

How to make it

  • Cut bratwurst 2/3 of the way through. Gently flatten for quick, easy cooking.
  • Prepare bratwurst according to package directions. (For added flavor, cook bratwurst in beer rather than water.)
  • Remove from skillet and keep warm.
  • Drain excess liquid from skillet.
  • Add vegetable oil and return skillet to medium-high heat.
  • Add red onion and sauté until lightly tender.
  • Add sauerkraut and heat with onion.
  • Add scallions, sugar, garlic powder, hot sauce and cooked bratwurst.
  • Simmer, covered, 5 minutes.
  • Place 2 slices swiss cheese on each roll and top with bratwurst, sauerkraut mixture and mustard and relish.
  • Serve with a great German beer...Anfeuerungen zu lhrer gesundheit!

    I gotta try this.....there ia a meat company i take my meat to be packaged....they make a pesto sausage that i bet would go great with this recipe.....THANK you
