Amish Green Tomatoe Pie Recipe

Ingredients
  • 9 in. double crust
  • 3 cups green tomatoes sliced thin
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

Directions
  1. Prepare crust for a 9 in. double crust pie
  2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  3. Filling:
  4. Put in bowl, 3 cups green tomatoes sliced thin, cover with boiling water, let set 10 min.
  5. Drain, put in pie shell.
  6. Add brown sugar, molasses,water,flour,cinnamon and nutmeg
  7. Cover with top crust
  8. Bake at 350 degrees, 45 min. to an hour

I had this once when I was a kid, loved it!!


This sounds excellent. I can't wait to fix it--our tomatoes did not amount to much this year in the area where we live..but I am going to go in search of some green tomatoes fast! :o)


I used to have this recipe and lost it thank you so much for posting this it is so yummy. I am so tickled to have this again.


I've been thinking about makeing a tomato pie so many green ones got to do something with them!!


This is one of my FAVORITE dishes!! I'm from wilkes-barre PA, so i love those amish delights!
