Treacle Scone

- 2 cups, 1 LB, 454g self rising flour shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. salt shopping list
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon shopping list
- 2 tsp. ground ginger shopping list
- 2 tsp. baking soda shopping list
- 2 Tblsp. granulated sugar shopping list
- 1 cup, 1/2 pt, 235ml buttermilk shopping list
- 1 beaten egg shopping list
- 2 Tblsp. sunflower/vegetable oil shopping list
- 2 Tblsp. treacle or molasses shopping list
- *Black treacle is molasses and golden syrup or corn syrup is also considered treacle shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 400*F/200*C/gas5
- Grease and flour a 2lb. loaf tin
- Sieve all dry ingredients into a large bowl.
- Add sugar.
- Pour buttermilk into a jug, add egg, oil and treacle... blend well.
- Add liquid to bowl and mix well with a large spoon.
- Transfer to prepared tin.
- Bake in preheated oven for approximately 45 minutes.
- Cool in tin for 10 minutes and then transfer to cooling rack.
- If a soft crust is preferred, cover loaf with clean cloth.

Wow, never heard of treacle scones and scones have been popular in our British background family for years. I love this recipe and can't wait to try it. Thanks for sharing something different with all of us.
