Treacle Scone Recipe
This is an unusual recipe that came from a friend of mine. I haven't tried it yet but she loves it.

Ingredients
  • 2 cups, 1 LB, 454g Self Rising Flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 2 tsp. ground ginger
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 Tblsp. granulated sugar
  • 1 cup, 1/2 pt, 235ml buttermilk
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 2 Tblsp. sunflower/vegetable oil
  • 2 Tblsp. treacle or molasses
  • *Black treacle is molasses and golden syrup or corn syrup is also considered treacle

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 400*F/200*C/gas5
  2. Grease and flour a 2lb. loaf tin
  3. Sieve all dry ingredients into a large bowl.
  4. Add sugar.
  5. Pour buttermilk into a jug, add egg, oil and treacle... blend well.
  6. Add liquid to bowl and mix well with a large spoon.
  7. Transfer to prepared tin.
  8. Bake in preheated oven for approximately 45 minutes.
  9. Cool in tin for 10 minutes and then transfer to cooling rack.
  10. If a soft crust is preferred, cover loaf with clean cloth.
