Calico Beans With Bacon  And Ground Beef Recipe
This is one of those meals you kinda look in the pantry to find something for supper & you can throw it together. We all have those days. Enjoy!

Ingredients
  • 1/2 lb. hamburger
  • 1/2 lb. bacon
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 large onion (1 cup)
  • Garlic clove, minced if desired
  • 2 tsp. salt ( can be omitted if on low salt diet)
  • 2 tsp. prepared mustard
  • 4 tsp. cider vinegar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large (27 ) oz. can baked beans
  • 1 (15 oz.)can chickpeas, drained
  • 1 (20 oz) can kidney beans, drained
  • 1 ( 16 oz ) can baby green lima beans, drained

Directions
  1. Fry bacon until crisp;remove bacon, crumble & reserve
  2. Brown hamburg in bacon fat
  3. Add onion, ketchup, salt, mustard, vinegar, brown sugar and bacon.
  4. Simmer for 5 min.
  5. Mix beans together and add to sauce.
  6. Bake in baking dish or bean pot for 40 min at 350 F
  7. Serves 10 to 12

Cheri, I used to make one of these a while back, but it was with only canned baked beans, and without the ground beef...This recipe looks a LOT more flavourful and filling! Thanks for the post!


This looks very good, I made something similar to this also but it didn't have the bacon or all the different beans in it. Was really good, great post.
